First Drive: 2008 Honda Civic Mugen RR
DAMN THIS THING IS FAST
Look at the engine output...extremely similar to Rx8's Rotary.
But as a FWD its so fast...I know its 300 limited...but still...look at the 1:00.6 Tsukuba Circuit track time!!

The US version has no more power then the regular SI, but does have 7K worth of suspension and body mods. It's a waste of money, you can spend half that do it yourself. It does look nice though.

If you have GT5 P. you can dl the Best Motoring (march) 1/2. it shows 3 different version of Civic type R racing (5 lap race Tsukuba Circuit) against the normal s2k and the CR S2k. One is a Mugen, others are Honda type R.
also rx8 owners dont feel bad, the 3 civics beats the the 2 different s2k by 5-9 sec.

Pretty hard core. You can also see this car (Japanese spec) driven by Jason Plato go head to head with a stock S2000 on the week before lasts Fifth Gear which aired on Sept 1. I think he said it was pretty quick and impressive but still preferred the S2000 for its RWD and more usable daily-driven ability. Can't remember which one lapped quicker...

To put things into perspective:
For $10-15k more than an S2000 or RX-8, I sure hope it's faster. Hell, at this price you could buy an EVO MR and have ~$5k left over.
While the standard Honda Civic Type R costs $25,600 in Japan, the Mugen RR went for $43,900.

43k for a civic that can show it stuff on the track....I could see this car being picked up by track heads than everyday joes. For 43k there are a plethora of cars out there i rather have for my daily use.

I'm surprised so many people like this car, lol. I just think its ugly and overpriced, but then again its probably fun to drive. Idk, 43K for a civic? I paid 19 grand for my 8 2 years ago and I feel like I got so much car for that much money. It better be damn good to cost 43 grand for a FWD civic SEDAN.

I seen that car months ago. its coming out to the US ?
I know in Japan they made I think 300 of them, sold out within HOURS.
Mugen spent quite a lot of time into making the FD2 better. I dont remember what exactly they did, I can look it up when Im home tonight.
There is another Race version in Japan I think. it has almost everything strip out from factory, some parts to carbon fiber, etc.
