this makes the gt-r all the more impressive imo, to be so dominant on the race track, especially at the ring, where there are some very long straights. It just shows how much better the gt-r handles in the corners because the gt-r sure didnt beat the z06 because it accelerate faster in a straight line.

No surprises there. All the numbers indicated that the 911 Turbo and Z06 walk away from the GT-R right around the 1/4 mile mark.
.... and the replacement for displacement in this case would be a boost controller

It's a Cavalier
Here's everything you need to know!!!
ZO6 vs GTR vs 911 turbo
http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...6911_chart.pdf
From a roll, the ZO6 on paper, trapping 124mph, should absolutely destroy a GTR. 8mph trap difference is huge. The video proves that so no surpises there.
A stock C6 Vette can trap 116mph and the GTR traps 117mph, meaning, from a roll, it would be a knock down drag out fight between the two. From a dig, the GTR will get way out in front of a stock C6, and will still manage to beat it to the quarter mile mark. Bolt-on C6 would take out a GTR from a roll.
With a ZO6 from a dig, the GTR is beating it to 50mph, exactly even at 60mph, and losing by 80mph.

I would love to see those two cars racing on a race track. I have no anti american cars bias. I find the newer corvette is sweet, but I still think the GTR would eat it alive on the race track.

AWD > RWD for anything but a drag.
But for total ownership experience... owning the gtr will bring more attention.
Not that you need to be a flamingo, but i'd hate owning the z06 and blending in with the thousands of vettes on the road. You look around and all you see if a blur of cars, mostly the same colors... you spend all that money just to be like everyone else.... unless you live in an area not flooded with vettes, but im in FL with plenty of retired old men with money and thats what they buy. the corvette shows locally are pretty amazing though. stingrays galore.

I could of told you guys the out come from not even watching the video, the gearing in the GT-R doesn't allow it to out accelerate the Z-06 in the tripple digit realm.
What shocked me was the GT-R barely pulled on the Z-06 from a dig, even with its high advanced launch control gimmick.

^^the huge difference in power to weight ratio makes up the traction advantage for the z06. we are talking about a ~3100lb with more hp car vs a ~3800lb car. they seem pretty even from a dig up to the 1/4 though (by mags, not this vide because i cant see anything in this video), after that the z06 pretty much walks away from anything and everything in the segment including the F430

the zr-1 is more of a competitor for the GT-R V spec, which is already running 1 second faster than the zr-1 on the ring right now... but this thread is about the z06's superior acceleration vs regular GT-R

'There is no replacement for cubic displacement.'
Honestly, I was very gung ho on the GT-R when it first came out, and especially after The Ring time was released.
But now, I am getting cold on it. It's just so overloaded with G-Whiz electronics and whatnot....
Nissan may have been wiser to keep the weight down on the vehicle, and lose much of the gadgetry.
