I guess this is good if you're comparing it to the removeable hardtop--70 lbs. and $2000 either way. If I were to own a Miata, realistically I'd be keeping the removeable hardtop on for a pretty good part of the year.

I wish they had a fixed hardtop option though. Make it even cheaper than the regular soft top, and maybe even weigh less. With that 240 hp DI turbo four (or a renesis, ha), it would embarass several more expensive cars.

I love it. Do you think an after market co. will make a hard top like a targa? Where you can just snap it on and off? That would be cool

Agh, sorry to bring this back but I was down at a concert tonight a block away of mnao and we drove around the parking lot. 2 of the hardtop miatas with dealer plates were set asside. Verry nice looking car. I was truly impressed, the stormy blue mica with the tan interior is pure class. I also saw a red mazdaspeed3 which was a bit of the let down. Nice looking car but imo it seems a bit hefty. I guess the performance may outweigh the downsides.

Sorry if this seems pointless, I'm not in my right mind - it was a great concert :p

I like the look, about time they did a retractable hard top.
The Miata has come a long way since day one.

I do like the hardtop but it shouldn't replace the rag because the miata is all about light weight performance and it's already heavy enough as is.
