Ford Falcon (from Australia)
Not bad... Ford might want to take another look at bringing over European and Australian cars to the US again.... http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery;...p=8&sbid=lc02b

Ford needs a V8 RWD sedan to compete with the Charger. Or a I6-Turbo . They are not pieces of crap at all!

This model Falcon is about 7 Years old, the model codes were first AU, poor sales, minor facelift to then the AU II Falcon, then they did some major work to compete with the Holden (GM) Commodore, name changed to the BA Falcon, which won WHEELS COTY when released around 2002 for memory. The latest Falcon just release is the BF with some minor changes.
Far from being a POS, this car with your V8 has won the Australian V8 Supercar Racing title for 3 years in a row, 2003,2004,2005, from the GM Holden V8 Commodore.
But, the car is due for a complete change from the ground up next year..I think....
Would it sell in the states, probably, I think it looks better that the your very plain/dull looking 500.... IMO...OK

It reminds me of a Subaru mashed together with an RSX and it actually is rather handsome. Up until now I've only seen the V8 Supercar version, so I couldn't really tell how nice it was. I think this would sell if they brought it over, it's just too bad they're so afraid of losing the comatose American driver demographic to actually bring an exciting vehicle over.

If you've seen one in person... it looks nothing like a Subaru (well, at least it doesn't to me). That photo doesn't do it justice as it doesn't really show the difference in size and that colour doesn't do it justice.
I don't mind the XR6 turbo... it's bangs to buck ratio is very high... and if I hadn't bought the '8 I may have been driving one now (and not understanding how much of the '8s handling I'd be missing).

Dunno about the bodykit on that one... particuarly the spoiler, but otherwise... I like. Ford really does need to bring a RWD sports sedan to the US market. The Camry is trying to get sporty and Honda... is well Honda. I don't know if doing something different like offering a RWD competitor is the answer, but they need to do something. Maybe stop the Ford/Mercury rebadging crap and make this car a Mercury or vice versa.

i think that ford needs to change their logo, that blue oval with ford written on it just doesnt do it for me, if i see a decent looking ford that logo just hits me with the same disgust as a runny fart, and i instantly dont take it serious...

I drove a mate's XR8 (performance V8 version of the standard sedan) and was a little underwhelmed. It drove much like a heavy car, and I somehow managed to stall it in first pulling out of the parallel park...
I mean, how the hell do you stall a V8 which is supposed to have enough torque at idle to pull the side out of a building?
A 2,000rpm takeoff soon had me going again, but I could never really shake the "overweight" feel to it - it was to my mind similar to the work car (a Toyota Troop-Carrier) but with less body roll. Power-wise, it's VERY potent, but like most cars of it's kind, is wasted on surburban speed limits, and there's no track nearby to give it a good trial (not that he'd let me).
I've driven a few of the previous years versions of the wagons, with the I6 motor. They seem very light (almost like the RX8) until you try and play with them, where they show lack of agility. It's almost like they have the power steering pump at too high a pressure. Power-wise, the I6 is less potent than the Renisis (a rough equal to my lightnend and intake/exhaust tweaked Hyundai coupe, if the Ford has the auto) over the 1/4 mile, but has the torque to happily see the speed limiter at about 180kph (conversely, my Hyundai has too much drag ~135kph). Suspension on it is nothing special, nor is ride and NVH - they're about typical for an "average" medium-large family car.

These vehicles from FPV are more highly modified than the standard Monaro/Pontiac GTO.
Ford Performance Vehicles are a stand alone off shoot that modify standard production V8s to what you see in the pics, body add ons, bigger brakes, exhausts,suspension/tyres/rims, interior and of course engine tweaking, etc.
www.fpv.com.au.
Holden (GM) have also there own Special vehicles department...they have a older history than Ford, and a larger variety of models to choose from...
www.hsv.com.au (Holden Special Vehicles).
Holden's here are about to release their most powerful production car ever.
The Holden Commodore SS with your 6.0 litre V8, borrowed I think from the Corvette C6....is this where the 6 litre is used?..
As far as I know the Commodore SS is a production car and not a HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) model, but they could take in on with its short life span thats left.
I have the latest WHEELS mag with the details, but I have lent it out.
The Commodore as you see it now is to be replaced with an entirely new model design, not sure where its from, Opel Europe I think, and made here to Aussies conditions.

I don't think this is the one your talking about but it is a comparison between the Ford and Holden.
