Yeah, that's not real great looking. I guess when the last time you produced a decent looking car was sometime in the 70s, you need to source from the last few things you did right. Like I heard in a discussion a few days ago - 5 years from now, they'll have a dated-looking car that would have fit right in with this current batch of cars.

It has those exaggerated proportions that you see on concept cars. (wheels too big, beltline too high, greenhouse too low, ...) However, I personally don't consider the exterior to be a retro design. In my mind, it has simple, clean lines that look somewhat contemporary. Now, basing it on the Mustang platform and giving it muscle car character, that can perhaps be considered retro.

It looks a lot like the Chrysler 300. Ford makes a couple of cars for Europe that look pretty good. They just don't bring them here. They give us the 500 and Fusion instead.

"When rumors began swirling that Ford had begun development of a four-door Mustang, the automaker immediately jumped up and down and said it was not going there, ever. Mustang would remain a 2+2 coupe, now and forever, was the response from Dearborn."
Its not a mustang sedan. Its a sadan based off of a stretched mustang chassis

looks just fine has a decent engine running e85. they should build it. but DONT water it down by building 3 versions- Ford, Mercury AND Lincoln. 1 maybe 2 ( Mercury /Lincoln or Ford/Lincoln) but not 3. Just leave it out of one lineup. use one version to sell to the cops and taxi drivers to replace the Crown Vic.

I decided i think they should do Ford and Lincoln but no mercury.
Drop the Fusion from the Ford lineup but leave it as the Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ. Then add the Interceptor to the Ford lineup as the new Ford Grenada and add the Lincoln MKR above as the new Continental

Don't forget to bring the Mondeo over! They can even give it to Mercury if they want, just so long as it makes an appearance state side.
I mean, it's far too nice looking for them to ever actually do that, but a man can dream, right?

The RX-8 is not a Superior car either. I love mine, but it is an underpowered cheaply built car that has consistently been in the dealership for warranty problems that have never been able to be fixed and still continue to haunt the car.
If Ford built the car they would use the underpinnings from the Mustang which would be where the similarities would end.

If I was forced to ditch the 8 in a few years and once more forced to buy a 4 door sedan I might consider that thing.. just damn.. looks like it has some ***** and to a point kinda gangsta looking (old school cadi gangsta hehe). I agree with Zoom ditch the Fusion or 500 one or the other and bring that Interceptor up. And those saying "Its a mustang" its only the chassis stretched out. The Camaro concept was built off the 300 chassis but shortened by 6 inches (or close to it). The look of the car seems it could last atleast 10 years and still look new. Now to wait if Ford will actualy start to make a Bold Move and slowly green light this.

I've got to say, I didn't like that MKR a whole bunch when I first saw it, but that thing's growing on me. I'm beginning to appreciate the weird retro-futuristic look of it, it's unique and sharp looking - sounds like just what Ford (well, Lincoln) needs at the moment.
