Mazda3-20B Overwhelms Rivals With Its Speed In Debut Race
On April 10th, a Mazda3 20B contested Round 1 of the Belgian Touring Car Series at Zolder. Due to it being the car's debut event, it encountered a few minor problems and finished 26th out of 31 cars entered in the 90-minute race.

The Mazda3 20B fascinated spectators with its overwhelming speed and racing rotary sound. In the race, the Mazda3 20B was watched closely by rivals after it recorded the fifth fastest time overall against the lightweight Silhouette Cars, and the second-quickest time in its class. Although it faced fuel system woes and an overheating exhaust, resulting in time wasted in the pit, overall the car performed well in its debut race.

Driver Werner Van Herck commented, "The first race weekend turned out to be very promising for the team. Despite a lack of testing, we took the pole in our class, and this with a full tank of fuel! We still need to work on the suspension tuning, but as soon as we have optimized the car, we will be able to compete with the silhouettes, which weigh 100 - 150kg less. The engine is terrific to drive. Even at relatively low revs, it is very powerful. On the straights, I was able to follow the silhouettes, and we are simply the fastest in our class. At the moment we are looking at solutions for the problems we had with the fuel supply and the exhaust, but this will be fixed for the next race."

 

yeah that car is pretty bad ***. So it on here last week though. Still cool.
