Those reports aren't very detailed. They are paid for by dealers who get a discount from AutoCheck - and they provide very limited info.
You can get the same thing by doing a title search at a dmv or tag office in some states.
You can go to certain dealers websites (those using autocheck, not carfax) and just click on their "free autocheck report!" link, and then paste in the VIN you really want to search like this:

I guess it's good if you just want to know how many owners & to make sure it has a clean title.

then again, i don't think autocheck's really that accurate. i've entered 2 vins that i knew for a fact that had an accident, and none of them showed up.
