ya dude.... go for the vette. Don't worry about the '8, if you miss it, I guarantee you can drive up to any person driving an 8 and offer to swap for a few hours. No way they'll refuse.

I'd trade in two RX-8's for the new Vette.

The aftermarket isn't getting it anywhere near a C6 Z06 anytime in the near future. Plus once it does it's be a finicky, highly tuned, unreliable gas guzzler in comparison.

I saw the new Z06 at the LA Autoshow this year, & I have to admit that it was pretty damn impressive. Where the "regular" Corvette interior left me unimpressed, the Z06's is much better. Also the form is much better with the regular "coupe" design vs. the previous versions nasty "hardtop" configuration (looks ungainly chopped). I would wait for the 2nd year as usually the first year the dealers are trying to rape the poor suckers who have to have the latest & greatest (at least out here they do) & usually by the 2nd/3rd year of most Corvette runs they are offering massive discounts.

now that would be something to see..lol I just don't think it's right though to take the rotary heart out of a rotary car for the sake of more tq.. and besides..that LS7 is FREAKIN HUGE...i really doubt it would fit. and if it did..it'd probably twist the 8 into a pretzel when gunned hard.

if you can afford it by all means go for it, insurance is going to be a killer but it would be worth it, the new Z06 is getting numbers right up there with cars triple its price and the new design is absolutely stunning. That is one remarkable car, you won't be disappointed. (it even has carbon fiber fenders! hard to believe this is the same car company that built the assstek)

edit: an ls7 in an 8 isn't even practical, way to big and it would tweak the balance something awful, now an ls1 in a 3rd gen? that would probably work

Yeah go for the trade--I'm more of a Porsche man myself--so I can't wait for the next 911 Turbo. Z06 is badass though.

depends if you need 4 seats or not. Otherwise I'd rather get a slightly used porsche than a vette.

:D I don't know if it would be something like sleeping with another woman, or asking your wife to put breast implants :D j/k!
and besides..that LS7 is FREAKIN HUGE...i really doubt it would fit.
They've retrofited LS engines on RX-7s and Miatas for a while. I think the RX-8 engine bay would swallow it.
and if it did..it'd probably twist the 8 into a pretzel when gunned hard.
:D Agreed. You would end up reinforcing the entire frame, plus using a totally different tranny & fogget about the carbon fiber flywheel...it'd end up like flak projectiles on an Unreal death match :p

Get the Z06, and never look back...except to come to this board and tell us all about it.

The RX-8 has a very stout frame, I bet it could handle the hp.

The chassis might handle it... might. But the clutch and flywheel and all that jazz would be toast.

The LS2 is a good candidate for the RX8 cuz it's slightly more compact than the LS1 and made for drive by wire. It'd still be a very expensive modification (LS6 in an RX7 costs 11k+ to do right).

I was thinking about getting a vette myself. It's hard not to want a Z06 though if you are looking at a vette and that'd just be way too much to spend every month.
