Corvette's are actual "sports cars," not just muscle cars. The Z06 even more so. The Cobra is based on a Mustang, so I guess you'd still consider it muscle.

The vette found its way in the american muscle round ups because, Its an American favourite that can haul *** and the US has always been somewhat of a "muscle car" country - this does not make the Vette a muscle car.

^^ I think he meant the original Shelby Cobra.
The old Cobra's definitely muscle.
By the way, are you guys nuts...why is the Vette a sports touring car? It can handle very well and it's light to toss around on a track, if you are talking about "touring cars" you could call the GTO one since while it's fast it's also very comfortable and handles more like a Sadan than a sports car.
What in the Vette makes it a "touring car"??????
So...what is a muscle car? Is the formula just high HP with inept handling?
Well, I guess I'm a sports car guy because I like to have the whole package. To me it's not just about going in a straight line, to me a "sports car" is what I call the athlete of the car world. It can run, jump, and change directions quickly...it's a sports car.

The vette is quite potent at the track but face it... its somwhat built for comfort... its comfy and doesnt quite beat you up when you drive it. Not only that but its probably got a couple hundred pounds of "niceties" (all beit somewhat half assed) on it.. NAV and comfy seats.. it even has a magnetic ride control to soften up the ride as an option.... If you shed all that crap the vette could be even better at the track...sorry but that looks like a tourer to me.
You can tell right away that they had more than just the track in mind when they made it

Are you saying that just because something is a Sport Tourer it cant handle or be taken to the track?
I guess I'm getting old...lol, cause having only high HP while driving around in a harsh and unpleasent car (isn't that our complaint about the 350Z?) is not my idea of a good car.
I don't mind a firm ride, but if I'm losing teeth in the process it's time to rethink the car for street use.

^No, I need the back seats...remember....wannahave Jr is almost here.
But, I would not mind a 3-Rotor NA making 350HP or a 15B NA with direct injection making 300HP. Ohhh....how I can dream...
TODreamer...later on in life or if I was rich, Ohhh yeah I would like a Vette but I'd keep my 8 since it taught me the way of the Rotary...
