Good bye ladies and gentlemen
I cant say that i didnt enjoy my first rx-perience with an 04 silver elegant, sleek, and sexy 8. But my breathren I have seen the light and and it was Good. Newly evolved to the next level in Sports car ownership just purchased an 05 Yeller (dont flame) Mitsubishi lacner Evo. And im getting worked up just thinking about drivin it to work tomorrow. And yes these two cars dont compare Evo is a beast and a ballerina at the same time. Wow as a matter of fact ima go stroke her gearbox a couple more times tonite Cya. Peace
P.s. I've got another 8 in my life and it aint a mazda . It's amazing what almost 40 more ponies, about 130ft-lbs of more meat, and AWD will do to ya!!

There is not much to say, the EVO is a great car, but it is not an RX-8. Good luck to you, but one day you will realize the mistake you have made and you will regret it. With that said, enjoy your new vehicle.

Probably won't be on again, but your 'ps' was a cheezy bragging summation. I appreciate the power but there's something about it that I can't get over and pull the $30k trigger on. Only if they made it look good. Hope you got a good deal cuz the Evo IX's are coming as seen here. Still ugly (imo)-

While I can see why some are getting a bit butt hurt in this thread due to your tone, I can't fault you for your decision. Some people care about "refinement" some people just want to tear up the roads. The RX-8 probably wasn't the car for you to begin with just like the Evo isn't the right car for most people. But if you're a driver looking for the best all around performance first and foremost and could care less about how pretty the plastic in your interior is molded, the Evo and the STi are amazing.

To each their own. I just don't see how people who brag about an EVO or StI can justify their reasoning for owning one as a daily driver. Yes, their Great performance cars! But damn who's tearing up the streets every time you go to work, movies, eat and etc? Lets be real for once. If I'm going to be at the track then yes I would buy one of them. (Most likely the STI) But I'm not.
Either way congrads on your New ride and I hope you enjoy it for longer than a couple of weeks.

A lot of people have the mistaken attitude of "since it doesn't fit my needs, it's ****." What a misguided approach to life! I need an RX-8 because it fits my needs and lifestyle at this stage of my life. To think it fits all other people's driving needs would be the height of arrogance. If I was a married, with a large family I would get another type of vehicle. If I was a hot-blooded teenager I'd want a powerful, inexpensive, crude but fun car.
At your stage of life you need an EVO - it probably fits your emotional, financial and practical needs otherwise you wouldn't have wanted it. When you're 65 you might want a cushier ride. Almost everyone understands there is no BEST of anything since everyone's needs vary. I never could understand why the RX-8 has to be the best car for everyone. It certainly is the only car I want now, but I could switch to a big, soft Lexus when I'm older.
I wish I could own a Porsche 911, Lexus SC, and an EVO, if I only had the money and the storage room. Good Luck on the EVO and don't look back: always get what you want/need and ignore everyone else.

I know the Evo's are super quick and handle well but I can't get over the fact that its a ******* lancer. When I see one of those with I want to puke because they're so damn plain. Its like the mitsubishi version of a kia spectra.

Good call on the Evo. The RX-8 is a solid ride but it won't provide near the tunability or the outright fun factor of the Evo. I've had my '05 Evo for about 3k miles now. By the far the funnest car I've ever owned. Shoot me a PM if you have breakin questions are anything like that. All that stuff is still fresh in my mind.
BTW...have you done your first high RPM clutch dump yet?
