OK if you only had one car IE->me, and its a RX-8. What would you get as a second car?
Thanks for your time

Hmm, how about a 2nd RX-8, yeah!
Seriously - it depends a lot on what you'd use the 2nd car for. For me, a 4wd Pickup is one of my 2nd cars - great for hauling crap that I don't want (or can't) put in the 8, and great for the bad weather (snow, ice, etc.). But, if my needs were for simple commuting and I wanted to keep the miles off the 8, I'd pick up a little econo-box. All depends on what your needs are...

AWD Station Wagon.
I hate SUV's and a station wagon can have good handling characteristics, and still haul much volume from a cargo standpoint. Volvo, Audi, or Subaru.

I guess we really need to know what you need this second car for. If its just for winter, than a crappy little econobox will do. If you need more room or to tow some stuff, a wagon will do. I hope its not to save miles on the 8, i disagree with this mindset, you might as well enjoy it while you have it. If you want something to tow your 8 and a set of racing wheels/tires to the track pickup truck. But NEVER buy and SUV!
at suv!!

RX-7 Guru
I can understand having a truck, but good lord I'd go crazy if I had to drive one every day. Talk about boring!
For a while I had an '86 base RX-7 as a daily driver, and my '88 turbo as the project car. That '86 was a blast to drive. It was also rough enough that I wasn't worried about the paint and interior, but still looked decent.
1st and 2nd gen RX-7 are real damn cheap, parts are cheap and commonly available, and they're a ton of fun.

I'd have to choose one of two routes, if it was to have a beater, I'd maybe get a Protege or something like that.
If it was to have an even more fun car, I'd get a Beck 550 Spyder or a Lotus Super 7 copy or something.

Definitely an awd subaru would be perfect second car for me. I wish I could afford it. I'd have to choose between the new legacy GT turbo sedan, or the STI. I'd probably go with the legacy, since it's more luxury, and still has quite a bit more hp then the rx8. I already built mine on the website, but I am dreaming, because I still ow $15k on my rx8.

And this one....
I had 5 of the little suckers. Those were the best. They were project cars, that were like 60% finished. Never ever had one all done.
