I hear you Viking sorry I don't know much about the Mazdaspeed 6 I just thought it was the turbo version which I heard some people were swapping big turbos as for the SK2 I hear they are a blast with a FI good luck with as for Dailydriver... you don't get it no one is talking about driving 150 or even 110 mph bottom line is which is what so many RX8 owners come to learn once they have had their car for a while in a straight line many cars including the Z (which I am not even a huge fan of) will blow away the 8 from 0-60. 30-60 50-80 any day of the week becaue the 8 is underpowered NA, and by the way I have had my 8 since 04 and no we all don't buy the 8 to race but I hate when people get on here and make excuses for mazda putting out a car that should have come with a turbo.
In my opinion, it's stuck between an enthusiast vehicle and a consumer vehicle. If it had come in auto, it would have been a success, as the AWD is always a turn on for both enthusiasts and everyday people.
As the the S2K, you'd be surprised at how well this car reacts with a supercharger. Direct bolt on, and from what I've read everywhere it feels like it came that way from the factory at the safe 6psi setting, and will drive just like a stock S2K at the lower RPMS, then BAM, a burst of power. It's so enticing, because the car is so much fun to drive, and imagining another 60-70hp at the wheels safely and reliably in vtec must be so much fun. Of course there's potential for more power, but it's just too costly.

^^ NO CARS more enjoyable then the RX8? So it's the most enjoyable car ever built eh? hehe Well, I admire your love and passion for your RX8, but that's a pretty bias statement. We'll just assume you meant in the price range, or you're extremely partial to your car, and more power to ya if you feel that strongly about this wonderful machine.

Adding fuel to the fire......
After driving the rx8 for past 4 years, I decided not to exercise buyback option. No sense paying C$24k for the car that can only fetch C$20k retail. I enjoyed the car. In fact it is the longest I've ever kept a car - 48 mo. It had a sporty drive, great handling, enough power to get into trouble, 4 seater, dealership was close by, etc.....
Finally bought a 2007 350z roadster from the US. The Canadian sticker price was $60k, I got the US car for C$33k with 6,000 miles on the odo. For the little money more than the rx8 buyback, I figure it was a no-brainer.
G35 had no convertible, porsche Cayman was a lot more money, M3 was a lot more money, friend has s2000 so I didn't want same car, merc SLK AMG a lot more money..... so choices were pretty poor.
Anyways for C$33k, I could drive it for a year or two with minimal depreciation. Besides that, I don't feel the car's interior is cheap. It's not Audi quality, but certainly acceptable. The exterior can be considered controversial, but so is the rx8. I can tell tell you that the z roadster is still a head-turner, even more so than a garden variety Boxster.
I think that by now, most of the problems with the z have been ironed out. It been around for 4 or 5 years. In case anything goes wrong, the dealership is just a mile away from home. Wish me luck....
