We drove it cross country back in early October, to the Grand Canyon, down to Phoenix, and had fun at the Abarth Driving Experience event at Firebird International Raceway. Was a blast, and we put several thousands of miles in comfort and fun.

Even involved teaching a pair of redneck morons in a modified Dodge Cummins diesel truck that their heavily modified POS is still a POS in the middle of Utah when they decided to climb up our rear bumper through a 40 mph construction zone for 10 miles, because we were stuck behind someone who insisted on doing 30 mph through it.

It's a great car, and if certain people can't appreciate it, that's their loss.
Once people start negatively labeling others because they do things differently, that just shows how small that person truly is.

Some of you really are @$$holes. You drive a Mazda RX8. So what. You make it sound like anything other than the 8 is crap, costs too much, only good in a straight line, unreliable, whatever. When somebody trades in their 8 they get blasted for it. Audi, Porsche or BMW, "wait 'till you have to repair it" Mustang, Camero, "don't take a corner" The list goes on and on. Well face it, the 8 is not the most reliable car around either. It's slow by todays standards, deny it all you want. And to top it off it's not a very masculine looking car to begin with. Personally, I think the 8 looks like a chick car.
OP, enjoy the Fiat, I had an X1/9 and it was the most fun car I have ever owned.

 

I'm a chick and would never own a FIAT, Smartcar, Prius, or any other "chick" car as labeled. Everyone has their own opinions of what they like, what fits with them, and what is within their budget. If you like it what else ******* matters?

Now with that said...anyone who sits here and goes oh I'd never label anyone no matter what kinda car they drive. I call BULLSHIT. Everyone has an option and with 8 drivers being as fanatic as we are about our cars, yes we are going to judge other cars. That doesn't make us wrong or mean. Tell me that you're not a car enthusiast and that you don't check out other modified cars as you drive down the road and go that's ****** hot or thats ****** atrocious. It happens, get over it. Well unless you just bought the 8 bc it was the cool thing to do or it helps you get chicks...smh
And yes I have seen the awful teenage banter that goes on here and most of it's just in fun...but it's the internet. Some ppl just need to get over other ppl's opinions and be happy with what they have.

Don't know why you're singling me out, but I bought my car nearly 2 years ago, and my reasons for buying it had NOTHING to do with getting chicks, or because its a cool thing to do...

Who the hell buys a car because buying a car is cool?

As for checking out modified cars, honestly, I prefer stock looking cars.
Usually the original car designers are better at making a car look nice than the aftermarket designers. And yes, some of the vehicles rolling around the road are atrocious.

Doesn't mean I'm going to label someone a fairy for being a 6'3" guy that weighs 280 lbs, that's driving a Fiat Abarth.

Now if that same guy installs a set of Ferrari or Lamborghini badges on their Fiat, then they are clearly a poser. And yes, there are guys out there with Ferrari and Lanborghini badges on their Fiats. One guy even has the license plate "Lil Enzo" on his custom Orange painted Abarth.

He can seriously f'ing drive, though.
Yet at the same time, he has a mouth that just won't stop.

I still haven't labeled him, because every time I think of one that fits, he surprises me with something else.

I woulda personally kept the 8, even with issues.

Or if necessary, sell the 8, find yourself a used 240sx, throw the extra 15k into a turbo setup-tune, and a bunch of tires.
