Got cussed out of the Mitsubishi dealer
So i was at Norco mazda changing my 14000k hid light. While waiting, the next door Norco Mitsubishi dealer broadcasted their Las Vegas trip-test drive giveaway. Since the light installation takes an hour, i walked there to get a test drive and get the gift. On their lot, were 5 Evos, each with 80+miles on them, so i asked for a test drive. The salesmen boasted about their Evo's performance, so i just had to drive one. But before they let me do that, they started negotiating the price with me and if i dont agree to their price, they wont let me drive it......their bottom line is $35000 for a 05 Evo. So i guess it is my appearance as a 20 year old kid with shorts on that made them believe i would pay such a price. After about 30 minutes after they checked my background, how much i hv in my bank and my credit, they hesitantly pulled the car out. Not only did the salesmen came along for the ride, the manager hopped in too.
They prevented me from going over 3000rpm in the Evo. And while in the car, instead of discussing the performance, they insisted on discussing my monthly salary and other insulting remarks.
After stepping out of the car, I am ready to get out of this hell already. Then came the sales manager basically cussed me out. Telling me that I am just here to drive the car and get the gift and hv no intention of buying the car and how i've wasted their time and told me the "get out" of the lot immediately. And as i was leaving the dealership I was called many names by their bystanding salemen.
I was just utterly shocked at their customer service........no word to describe it..........its absolutely unbelievable......this is at Norco Mitsubishi......
and obviously, i didnt get anything for their advertised test-drive giveaway, i guess as long as u've test drove the car, u hv to buy it no matter what.

... and now some words about Mitsubishi...
So I've been hearing how Misubishi is getting desparate - I think it was Road & Track when they reviewed the new Eclipse for '06. I continued to read that the car was under-powered, over-hyped and basically not worth the money... but then, I've been hearing that about their cars across the board lately. Has anyone test-driven anything "exciting" at a Sh!tsubishi dealer within the last 2-3 years?... seriously?
The Evo would be nice if it didn't feel like a $10 Tomy plastic car - am I alone thinking this? Please, to me that car ranks in the same neighborhood as the WRX STI... nice straight-line power, decent handling, but it'll fall off a turn ...

Sounds like the Nissan dealership in Cerrtios.
Worst experience I ever had. they even took the baby chair and put it behind his desk.
Then they didn't want to give it back unlees I bought their piece of junk car.

If you had your car up for sale would your goal be to give free rides to or sell the car? So you would have no problem taking the whole day letting people take rides who just happened to be in the area and had nothing better to do? It's a business. Their goal is to make money. They shouldn't have been abusive but you had no intent of buying a car and were totally wasting their time.

man that sucks. its bad enough when ones serious about going out and shopping for a car and have them all over you before you step out of your vehicle,but thats the way quite often how the experience unfolds...

Hi, first post here.
Just like to chime in and say that I had extraordinary service at my Mazda Dealership. It was amazing, while I was car shopping I had all the usual bullcrap from salesmen. But when we went to the Mazda place, we actually had to seek out a salesman and their service was remarkable.
Come to find out they work on salary and not comission. So I guess they don't feel the need to push push push push.
Anyways, I don't think I would put up with getting cus'ed out of a car dealership. I would of made a much bigger seen, lol.

Granted their attitude was horrible, but the whole fifth-degree before test-driving is not really uncalled for. You know how many people, mainly 24 and under, would go and test-drive (read: beat the **** out of) an EVO if they could just walk into a dealership and do so?

yes, i have no intention of buying the car at the time, i was attracted to their dealer by their broadcast of free test drive prize giveaway. i was there for their gift, merely following their advertisement direction. Plus, who keeps their car forever, i change a car every 2 years, i may consider an Evo in the future. If i were to run a business, i would believe in the product im selling, i would let them be satisfy with the product before they pay for it. This is how a business can last long. For example, after i told u how i was treated at that Norco Mitsubishi, would u shop there? this is all about principle, as long as you open a shop, anybody who walks in, is a potential customer and deserves respect. If you think they dont hv the purchasing power(yet) or just 'wasting' ur time, you hv not only discriminated another human being, but also lost a customer forever.

I would definitely file a complaint with headquarters. This is something that would turn me off the brand forever. Personally, I'm glad I didn't go with Mitsu after the salesman told me he would bring in the car for me to test drive (they didn't have a MT on hand) and never did. Went back a week later and found out they did have the car there and just "forgot" about me.

i thought qualified buyer means you passed their credit score check and hv a stable income job?
please, qualified buyer has nothing to do with whether or not you hv the intention to buy the car.
for example, i brought $5 and walk into a mcdonald, i am qualified to buy a burger, but that does not mean i hv to buy one. just because i walk into a mcdonald with $5 and didnt get a burger, r u saying that i am disqualifed from buying one? hv u ever walk into a mcdonald JUST to redeem a free coupon?

When a buyer is qualified, it means that they have the ability to buy. Ability speaks nothing for the fact that he would want to buy it.
Honestly I hate how people say stuff like, don't drive unless your willing to buy, or quit wasting their time.
Let me ask you this:
Would you buy a house without stepping in it and looking around first?
Would you buy a camera without testing it's ergonomics/layout firsthand?
Would you even buy an apple at the grocery store without throughly looking it over for blemishes?
Would you buy fishing rod without testing its flex without a practice cast?
Buy a hanggun without holding it first?
Buy a bike without riding it?
The list is endless.
Just because cars are high ticket items does not disqualify them from allowing anyone to take a test drive. It is the dealership's fault for not having 1 of every type of car simply to test drive.

Oh, and dealerships don't give Las Vegas trips out to any schmuck who comes in to test drive one of their cars. It's for those that test drive, then BUY a vehicle. Not freeloaders.

So although your dealership didn;t ask this, what's the reason so many dealerships ask the question "if we find the right car at the right price, are you prepared to buy today"?

But why do places even offer test drives then? I mean if you are shopping between two competing dealerships for the same car, somebody's time is going to get royally wasted reguardless of your intention to buy.
Thats the way dealerships function, impulse buying! They hope the car impresses you so much that you forget all logic and make a bad monetary decision and walk out with a new car and a bad deal. That is the logic of qualified buyers. Buyers who can make that impulse decision and not have to sell their house or declare bankruptcy.
I mean theres an equal probablity of the kid saying: Yeah, I just went over to the dealership to get the giveaway, and ended up selling my 8 and walking out with the EVO just cause it impressed me so much.
Thats why they announced the giveaway in the first place! Just to get you to step in! It certainly got this lad to go for it.
But for the record, every mitsu dealership I have ever dealt with has been a bunch of !@uchebags
