hopefully, this will be my 2nd car (once it's available)

Probably with a Toyota 1zz supercharged and SMT or a 2zz and a 6spd.
Nothing like a 1700lb (with interior and driver) mid-engined car with 4.xx sec 0-60's, and mid to high 30's mpg (guestimate).

1995 Ford Probe GT as seen in this thread... https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/just-some-pics-my-girls-90409/
It's a very fun car and gets 30mpg highway.

My second car is a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 with upgrades. Fastest car I've ever owned, and the best car in the snow I've ever owned (It's my winter car, but I drive it to work, until i move into my new house). I knock down 30 MPG if I stay off the boost, or I get significantly less if I beat on it, but have more fun.
My third car (my wife's car, now) is a 1996 BMW 318ti. 35 MPG, and if you get the clubsport model, it handles really nice. Great all-around car (and it's a hatch, so it has lots of flexible room).

I love my daily driver, it's a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Dbl Cab Prerunner...Carries the kids and the dog, hauls the toy trailer (dirt bikes and quads) and gets 21-22 mpg. Hard tonneau cover (locks) is great for grocery haulin', etc.
My other speed fix (I love sportbike riding) doubles as a gas/time saver, a 2001 Honda CBR 929.
My wife's vehicle is a 2003 Toyota Sequoia Limited (the "family car"). It's a great, plush, as well as comfortable ride, gets 17-18 mpg on the freeway. It carries a month's worth of groceries in one trip.

The 8 is my second car. I drive a '96 Ford Probe GT ATX for commuting to work. It's taken a beating but has required very few repairs for a 120k car. Maintenance costs have been fairly high due to the beating, but that's true with all the cars I have had.
Actually, I find the transition from a Probe GT/MX-6 LS to a RX-8 fairly direct. 7k redline, all top end/no low end, handles better than it does a quarter mile, really fun drives, and both have the cupholders right where your elbow is when shifting. The probe has infinitely more trunk space.

2nd car? My 8 is my daily driver...and we have a Mazda6 for my wife. One day...my 8 might be my 2nd car and the new Camaro or Evo X would be the daily.
It all depends on what Mazda does with the future of the RX8. But...I don't got the money for 2 cars nor the space (2 car garage).
