GT-R V spec specs
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/28/n...aled-by-randt/
Road & Track just spilled the beans on the new Nissan GT-R Spec V, so we can now share their data with all of you. Thanks guys. While the "regular" GT-R is busy bringing down giants and collecting hardware in the process, the new GT-R Spec V promises to improve on the formula, and probably cure cancer or bring about world peace along the way. Here are the numbers: 2 seats only, 520 hp @ 6500 rpm, 440 lb.-ft. of torque all the way from 3200–5200 rpm, 3615 lbs., 'Ring laps quicker than 7:30, $130,000 MSRP, early 2009.
So the car will lose its back seat and enough other stuff to shed 200 pounds, will get an extra 40 advertised horses, cost almost twice as much as the current model and lap the Nordschleife faster than a Porsche 997 GT2. We had that number as low as 7:25 recently, which is just insane. We're guessing there will be enough people that will wait for this model to hit U.S. shores when it debuts in early 2009, but even more who will think they can duplicate the recipe for far fewer dollars and a regular old GT-R. Thanks for the tip, Rob!

So for an extra 50K-60K over the base model you gain only 3 to 5 sec. at the ring and lose the functionality of the backseat? No thanks. Guess we need to wait and see it's official lap time.

First of all, most people would and should never even consider this car unless they are an armature or professional race car driver, I am sure it would make a terrible road car. For most people, the 60k is better spent on buying a M3, or rather 60k can probably get way more gains via 3rd party mods. I'm sure there are a few racing purists out there that would go for the V spec, but its not for 99% of us whether we have the money or not.
*The original article that reported on the 7:25 time said it can probably easily do a few seconds faster under good conditions. But at the same time, 1 second is an eternity in autoracing.

It'll be a pure race car from the looks of it. Definitely not a Daily Driver, but still interested to see what type of performance numbers it puts up considering the base model has some staggering numbers.

Sorry but that car just dose not do for me . For that amount of money I would get some other toys ............... The body style , is just to plain. It's not something that'll get you'll attention coming down the street , unless you know about the car .

Nissan should just stop making the GT-R after 1 year. Then the price of these cars will just sky rocket to instant collectibles in the same atmosphere as the McLaren F1.

Its not exactly plain, but not everyone wants attention all the time... I mean... WE do, but drivers of less pretty cars than ours might not want eye candy.
Personally give me an rx8, fd rx7, exige-s, or TVR sagaris (favorite) any day. Nothing looks as pissed off as a sagaris. someday.... im about 8% of the way there.
But back to point... the GTR is the best "package" for the money. try to argue that it isnt.

there are a lot of shallow people out there who only care about what other people sees and thinks of them rather than what they get out of their car for them selves.
Is there anything wrong with that? not really, its their money. I pity them but more power to them.

I find this comment rather amusing seeing as your avatar is a picture taken in the mirror of a shirtless guy with a camera phone because the person couldn't get anyone else to do it... You must have chosen the photo for the deep philosophical value huh?

It's not about being shallow , if im investing that much money, give me something different . It may have all the performance in the world but I need some looks too. I bet you enjoy when people look at your 8 or ask what your driving . Personally I would rather take a Viper , but thats just me .........................

lol, yea I hate you so much I've formed a secret league of RX8Club members and we all get into a chat room and only discuss our hate for you. I've formed a website dedicated to playdoh43 hate and have petitioners going door to door to get signatures and donations for the playdoh43 hate drive.
