Have you considered buying the MS6
The MazdaSpeed 6 has 274hp looks great. I am tempted to test drive one. I think it will be quite a bit quicker than the 8.
Anyone thought of trading their 8 in for a MS6 they are cheaper as well.

It may be a little faster in the straight line. But just like any other car that "is" faster than the 8 in a straight line, it gets its *** handed back to it in every other category! Nothing like an RX8 out there in the market right now. So to your question about considering an MS6, NEVER! I would never trade in my RX8 for a MS6!

I think that I will be dissapointed when I drive it. It will not handle like the 8 and it looks like a box on wheels. I have to admit I am curiour about the perfmance though. If you look at the numbers for a Acura TL it has siliar hp and is no faster than the 8.
BTW the MS6 is AWD.

There really is nothing else that compares for the money.

I was checking out the MS6 at the motorshow today. I don't like the view over that hood... and I'm 6'. The interior is pretty nice and the exterior looks better in person. BUT... as mentioned in another thread... for that money I'd get a Legacy GT. More parts, and the bulletproof Subaru AWD system. Besdies... the rear view is better than that butcher job Mazda did.

The MS6 looks to be a pretty good sedan, if that's what I was in the market for.
Would I ever trade in my Rx-8 for it? Umm, most likely not. The RX-8 is just way too much fun..
Again: IF I WAS in the marekt for another sedan, I'd probably consider it...

Just because it has more horsepower doesn't mean I want it. I have the RX-8 because it is a truly unique and entertaining car. While I'm sure entertaining, V-6 powered sedans with 275 horsepower are hardly unique.

Some think it's V6, others FWD. The MS6 will be a 2.3L turbo charged four-banger with Subaru's AWD system putting power to the ground. It will be very close to the Legacy GT. For a moment, try NOT to compare the MS6 to an RX-8 (since that's apples to oranges) and see what you think.

Mazda should have gone with a tame hood scoop ala the Legacy GT or a FMIC instead. That big bludging hood... it looks OK in pics and not so bad in person, but from the driver's seat... it sucks. Notice that the windshield washers are not mounted on top of the hood, but now on the back. The hood is so tall that there is room on the back/base to mount the washers there. Which also means lots of black plastic to look at and not being able to see much of the hood/front end for tight maneuvers. I still don't like the rear end treatment with the black wannabe diffuser with exhaust pipes. I think the regular Mazda6s 5 door looks MUCH better. The interior was pretty decent though.

What kind of performance numbers do you guys expect from this car? 0-60, 0-100 & 1/4 and will the top speed be limited.
Has anyone here actually driven one yet?
Looking on the site. The interior & exterior are not up to the RX8 the dash is really boring no turbo gauge, no oil pressure its hardly very sporty more like a Camry dash.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
Just based on what I know of weight and power, I'd guess 0-60 in 6.0-6.1, 1/4 mile around 15 flat, I don't have much experience with awd cars though. That's about what my old Volvo got at 300lbs lighter with 240hp/250tq and a similar power band (stock).

mazdausa.com has videos of both the MS6 and RX-8. Mazda quotes 0-60 as 6.2 for the MS6 and 5.9 secs for the RX-8. The MSRP of the MS6 is actually more expensive than the base MSRP for the RX-8.
It will be interesting to see if the car mags can better the 5.9 secs of the RX-8 with the MS6, perhaps they will. Even so, there are many sports sedans I'd probably rather have than the MS6. On the other hand, there are not many sports cars I'd pick over the RX-8, which is why I have the 8 in the first place.

As long as the MS6 isn't anywhere near as soft as a Legacy GT I'm down. If it's nice and tight with good steering and feedback I'm in. Too me it's still kind of unique, not as much as my 8--oh well.

And I'm not so sure that the MS6 won't be competitive in the corners with the RX8. The base Mazda6 is a great handler for a sedan, and the MS6 is substantially stiffer with a very aggressive suspension. It may not be quite the equal of the RX8, but I don't think it'll be that far behind.
And I bet the MS6 is a heck of a lot better in the snow, for those who have to worry about such things.
But of course, it is still a sedan with a huge, high hood. Big drawback.
Still, the MS6 is a very interesting choice, since I'll probably be making exactly this decision next summer.
