Looks like they had a lot of "design influence" from Lotus.

Sweet car and build, but the designer or designers really must love Lotus car designs. I would like to see more origonality to this project instead of a larger scale lotus Elise being built .

i would assume it IS a lotus (not styled after one) with a modded rear subframe to hold the transverse v8.

TX 1st one is done :)

The first one is finished and they are producing 10 a year now.

It even has Carbon Fiber wheels!!!!!

http://www.hennesseyperformancestore.com/venomgt.html

from website:
"SEALY, TEXAS & SILVERSTONE, ENGLAND, March 29, 2010 - Hennessey Performance is pleased to introduce the first official images of its Venom GT supercar. Based upon the Lotus Elise, the Venom GT combines a high-tech, lightweight British chassis with a powerful American V8.

"This is not the first time that Britain and America have joined forces to produce a weapon of mass propulsion", said company founder and president, John Hennessey. "Over fifty years ago the American-built P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft was flown into history powered by a British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Today the Hennessey Venom GT promises to set a new standard of power to weight ratio in the rarefied air of today's supercar market."

SOMETIMES LESS EQUALS MORE
In the case of the Venom GT, less weight means more performance. The Venom GT will have a production curb weight of less than 2,400 lbs (1,071 kilos) aided by its lightweight carbon fiber bodywork and carbon fiber wheels. Stopping power is delivered via Brembo brakes with 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers in rear clamping down on 15-inch carbon ceramic rotors.

SOMETIMES MORE EQUALS MORE
The Venom GT's base power plant is the supercharged 6.2 liter LS9 V8 (the same as in the Corvette ZR1) tweaked by Hennessey to 725 bhp. The company will also be offering 1000 bhp and 1200 bhp twin turbo V8 engine variants. The mid-engine V8 will transmit its power to the rear tires via a Ricardo 6-speed gearbox."

post 1 says twin turbo, this post says supercharged.

either way, pure awesome.

i did feel better reading that is based on the lotus, not just a lack of design creativity!

something i don't get...why bother with 1,200hp, or even 1,000? something that light with 725hp puts it ahead of everything as it is. if it had AWD, i think it'd be different, but you can't get that much power to the ground in a car that light with no AWD. it's going to be a monster, but i bet it won't have anywhere near the stability of other überperformance cars one could spend similar money on

I am sure the 725hp version will be popular, but some people have to have the best available just so they can brag about numbers.

Yeah his rep certainly isn't the best according to the people I know into muscle cars. He talked to me for a few minutes at SEMA regarding his LS9 camaro and seemed like a decent guy, but that means little to nothing from a business perspective.
