By such logic I could go test drive the new z06 and read all the magazine reports about the car and all the various comparisons to other cars and and then head off to the z06 boards and proceed to educate z06 owners about the pros and cons of their car. Do you really think they would be singing my praises and welcoming me? I don't think so and if don't believe me, try it for yourself.

The SRT-4 is an impressive car for what it's intended for and for the price and I respect that. I defend it on WRX and other forums I particpate in just like I do here. I don't see how what I'm doing is trolling when I'm simply providing factual info to refute some of the BS people post.

The big benefit with having Ike participate on this site is that if you can convince him of something, you can then ntake your argument to anyone and convince them!
Ike, keep up this high level of participation on this site and you will leave us no choice but to all chip in and upgrade you to a RX-8!

The SRT-4 is FWD, I don't care for the looks, and it's just rough around the edges. The RX-8 stock just doesn't cut it for me in the speed department, tuning potential doesn't seem all that great unless you dump a lot of money into FI which hasn't even been proven yet. Lastly with it being RWD it would really have to make me swoon to give up how stable/fun AWD is in bad weather. Both fun cars that go about the fun in different ways.

This thread is like that MS 6 thread. This is what we know:
1. There are cars faster than the 8 & there are cars slower than the 8
2. SRT-4 is a very fast car compared to most cars
3. The 8 is a fast car compared to most cars
4. The SRT-4 and the 8 are completely different and most people who bought either one were not even looking at the other car as a possibility.
I don't understand all the hate for SRT's, 350z's, STI, EVO etc. They are all great cars, and I can understand why someone would of purchased them over the 8. I love my 8, and the people who bought one and now complain they are too slow are retarded.
If we are going to flame people for buying certain cars why not the BMW 525i, the 323i when it was out, Audi TT, MB C240 and so on. I think all those cars a ridiculous for how much $$ you spend and what you get besides a nice hood ornament.

I think a more reliable source would be SRT Forums but alot of those people may hang out on eachothers boards. But hey, they're alot nicer than what the 350Z owners say lol.

There's A LOT of cars faster than the 8. I still love mine more (than most of them at least!)
And just for the record, I respect the SRT-4's, but I just think they're pretty crappy other than performance. Sorry, but cars are alot more than just speed. Speed is just one variable of a very large equation of what makes a good car to me. Call me snobbish, but I just couldn't drive anything that's called a NEON.

In the end it's your car. If you like it who gives a flying f*ck what people on the internet have to say. There's always something better and there's always somebody who THINKS they're better. That's life.

I still wouldn't drive it because my hampster wouldn't even fit in this 1/24 scaled down version of the Elise! Furthermore, the 8 has more HP! (Wow if felt good to tell someone I actually have more horsepower than their fancy/expensive and highly regarded sports car! )

RX-8club has a similar rep now on a lot of other sites for comments like that. That bugs me because obviously I think as a whole this is a great community and I don't want you guys to have that rep, but some people are just blinded by their love for the RX-8 sometimes and don't look at the big picture.
Zoom I got into a friendly argument with me best friend about Vauxhall and how much I'd love to buy a 220 if they brought it here. He claimed that since it would probably be brought in under a US nameplate and then built here that they would screw it up. I doubt that and I'd trade my WRX in on one in a heartbeat no matter what nameplate it had. Call is a Probe, Neon, Vega, Gremlin, Nova, I don't care, I want one.

I like Subaru better than Mitsubishi, I like the way the Evo handles better, I like the looks of the STi better, I like the boxer rumble, the Evo is more harsh for daily driving, the STi interior is far better, the Evo as of now is more tunable, the Evo has better seats, and on and on. It will most likely come down to the flip of a coin or who gives me the best deal.
I've test driven each a couple times. In my opinion the Evo was the more agile car, followed closely by the '05 STi, and then the '04 STi. In terms of power I'd have to rank the '04 STi first. I've put a deposit down on an '05 Evo myself...just waiting for my SRT-4 to sell.
In mid 2002 I was looking for a new car too. Had my mind pretty much made up on a WRX then got an offer I couldn't refuse through my work for a lease on a Nissan Spec V. In August of '03 I was t-boned by some old fart in a pickup truck making an illegal turn. Car was totalled. The leasing company got all the insurance money since it was their car, and I was left without a car and without any money for a down payment. The payments on a no-money-down loan for a $30k+ STi or Evo were too much for me. The SRT-4 was a good fit at the time. No regrets.

I honestly don't care for what people think whether the 8 is slow or what not.. my friends drive STi's, Stage 4 WRX's, Evo's, 350z, etc... i still chose to get the 8..its whatever floats your boat
..Ike pretty much tells it as it is.. which is better than sugar coating everything just to say what we'd love to hear. Opinions are just like @$$holes... everybody's got one. Ike may be a "troll" but he's an honest troll.

It may make you feel better to hold your nose up at SRT-4 owners, but believe me when I say there are just as many people out there holding their noses up at you. Check out what the SVT forums (specifically the Cobra guys) have to say about the RX-8. The 350Z forums are even worse. The STi and Evo crowds tend to just be more confused than anything else as to the reasons why, for about the same price, people would choose an RX-8 over a rally car. And then again, the RX-7 forums might just be the worst. I've seen some very disparing remarks in there.
