Exactly =) I just hope this Hyundai is a really solid car, it IS the first car that has caught my attention from the company.

I will agree with you on the Apple's and Macs I don't really like them =p I can't say Hyundai sucks, although until this car came up none of their cars really interested me.

just as a random point, I current;y have a 2001 Tiburon SE and it's given me waaay less issues than my RX-8, it started in our -40 weather without even being plugged in, wish I could say the same for the RX, and when car shopping, a new Tiburon costed about as much as a used RX-8, and I nearly picked the Tib, the ride quality and everything was quite nice, it beat out the new eclipse and the mustang in my opinion...
Hyundai is marching steadily upmarket

I have had no issues starting the RX8 in winter either...plugged in or not...

I feel the Tib's ride quality is worse than that of the RX8...and the tib does beat out the new eclipse and the new mustang (v6) of course =)

Seriously I have had 0 issues with the RX8.

oh no I know it'll never have RX-8 style handling, I'm just saying that they are getting steadily better, theres just a lot of people who are hung up on the name and aren't letting the product speak for itself, (and in truth, I think my starter is going, so thats why my RX won't start)

as long as you're not trying to compare the cars to something in a totally different league (aka price point) Hyundais do very well for themselves

Get the starter replaced, I believe there is a recall out for that.

Hyundai has made a pretty good car, it's difficult sometimes to let go of the past.

wow the hks genesis looks nice. but I wish hyundai would design something from scratch and not always make clones that are mix and match of cars that are already out there.

You can pretty much tell which cars "exaclty" where they got their inspirations from. Alot of them from cars that are not sold in the states. This one looks like they cloned the IS250 front end with a twist, and a G37 coupe rear end with a twist.

and I was beginning to like how they were doing with the new tiburon design.

Its good to see Hyundai getting a better image. i must say they had worked pretty hard to get where they are at now. i say in 10 years, they will be up there with the Japanese cars, or even sooner.

Being half jap and raised all my life in okinawa, i admit that i think the japanese car companies have been getting lazy and thought that hyundai was not a serious company. but i am glad that korea flipp the script on them. maybe this will wake up companies like Nissan, Toyota, Mazda and let them know that, not every one loves FF cars also stop being cheap and only make ff cars, and that they need to start making affordable FR cars that under 25k.

Ahh... So then you must speak as the Pope does. The Pope speaks for God. Your opinions must be as the Pope speaks so then your opinions are God's. It all makes sense now. So regardless of what you don't know based on facts or history, it's your opinion that is ultimately the final say. God hath spoken!

not sure where you are getting your information about japanese cars either....I know I never would have said....mazda and sports car don't belong together....
Maybe you're simply not old enough to know or remember. Anyone recall a company called Datsun? ya, shaaa-iii-tyyyyy cars. Look where they are now. kthxla~

for god sakes its a freakin hyundia! they are made of plastic on the inside and their sheet metal is made from soda cans and their paint is lower quality than the worst body shop around. I'm sorry, but I will never own a hyundai "sports car"

just my opinion so you know
yes, the car had paint issues. again, i know because i owned a Next Gen Tibby and i remember. It faded something awful in places. The interior however was just fine. Regarded, i replaced some of the interior pieces with true KDM stock which was made of aluminum... but keep that in mind. What you've "worked on" is what's issued here in the States. The KDM compliment is much different. Ignorance my friend. Not calling you stupid. Small difference but if you dont know or cant tell... then... you're S.O.L.

As for the soda can comment, Honda was busted in the early 80's for using Folgers coffee cans in bodywork and equipment like mufflers. Literally you could see the red ink and read Folgers. So get off your high horse, get a towel to wipe your face and e-**** off from all the stroking you've been giving yourself on this threasd and take a moment to realize you are wrong. Yep, you're allowed to have an opinion. Yep, you've also got an *******. How about that so does everyone else! Getting all worked up about it and going on and on about how you hate toyotas and mac computers is not only silly but also melodramatic.

Im getting a headache from reading 05rex8's posts
Hyundai quality has increased a tremendous amount..it is no longer the rattlecan plastic car that it once was in the past. Look at the current gen Hyundai SUV lineup, its pretty damn decent for its price.
Stop complaining about the plasticy interior and weak paint, are you suggesting Mazda is ANY better? The Genesis coupe will easily surpass the RX8 in terms of outright power mod for mod. It has a similar 4b11t as the Evo X but with a smaller turbocharger (maybe similar to the Lancer R/A).

It is RWD and can probably make 290WHP from bolt ons. Looks pretty decent and for its price, you cant beat it. Stop bitching about the badge, its not like your driving a prestigious badged car like Aston Martin..

They may be getting better, but have a long long way to go, imo.

I was at the track two summers ago, and another forum member here - Mac11 - was also driving his '02 Tiburon that weekend.

When we pulled in after one of the sessions he sheepishly admitted that my cool down lap in the RX-8 was faster in the braking zones and corners than him going full tilt in the Hyundai. And with both of us in RX-8s, we'll put down lap times within a second of each other.

Building for power is easy - building a balanced sports car for less than 35K is a different bag of tricks.

Fantastic, '01, '02, '03...it was whatever is the current available model in the US market, and the point still stands.

Hmm... not too bad i wouldnt feel bad about owning one once the lopsided H badge has been removed its actually very clean....the only sad fact is that i can see this car being played out very fast due to the price (like a Scion tc) and become the new rice vehicle (such as the neon srt4's ive seen around here) Its a sad fact they will overpower me in the rx8...cause im AT unless i go FI . The only thing that lets me sleep at night is that i bought this car because i fell in love with it since i was in high school....though i am a broke college kid and managed to get the AT for about $10K . I rather be the guy who followed his dream than the jerk who wants to go fast with no passion for the car!

No doubt in my mind the genesis will be able to make power much easier than the RX8.

My larger concern is can Hyundai make the car handle well and feel balanced? I hope so...

The 05 and 06 Tiburons are beautiful cars...if that car was rwd it would be in my driveway right now....instead of my GF's

It looks like some great GT's.......AstonMartin, 599gtb....really nice lines...i really like the looks....the newer versions sucked though..glad they are coming out with this

If its one thing asian companies are good at its copying success....thats one thing i really like about the "asian" culture.....here we are so selfish and secretive about everything, over there they still believe in the whole find the master and go under his wing...

i forgot the stats....but its like 8 chinese or japanese people each year get kicked out of i think Boeing or NASA or somewhere cuz we find out they work for some foreign companies....

And i know Hyundai is targeting some good cars....and the suspension PIECES are aluminum and up to date..but i dont think u can copy feel...so we will see

Your giving me a headache from your waste of a post.

Like I said, I have worked on all these cars minus the genesis, and they are low quality. Why do you think they are so cheap?

Also I never said anything about performance so that was a waste of time by you.

And yes, mazda is far better in the quality department. I never bitched about the badge, I simply don't like Hyundai's. Deal with it. I have my reasons and you have yours. I never said that HKS Genesis wasn't nice looking, because it is. The base model I'm not to fond of however. Please stop acting like you know what you are talking about.

Big deal..they have come a long way. Does not change the fact that I do not like them and they are low quality. I'm not talking about the engine or drivetrain, because I don't know squat about them. Body, interior, and paint, I do know a thing or 2.

I use to diss Hyundai back in the days, ofcourse I was young too. Just like me and everyone else we grow and the growth I seen with Hyundai is promising. The HKS genesis is one hot car, yeah so what if they copied a bit from other cars so it looks like a cross bread of a G37 and IS250, it's like 2 hot people who had sex and gave birth to something just as hot. And what I been reading lately on Hyundai is just praises. So All to you Hyundai.
