Honked at while accelerating
Full disclosure before I start: I do accelerate rather slowly when driving normally (not having fun).
Yesterday a lady in an Acura TL was tailgating me while I was accelerating from a red light. When I shifted, it forced her to lift, a situation that I guess she wasn't very happy with because I got a honk and a raise of the hands. I had a feeling it was going to happen, since it seems nobody these days are used to cars with manual transmissions and how they drive. Everyone automatically assumes you have an automatic transmission to the point where I know people behind have been forced to lift quite a few times before since they were following me so closely that the pause in acceleration when I shifted would've put me into my rear bumper if they continued accelerating at the pace they wre going.

hmmm, they must have been really really tail gating you, or you shift really really slow.
If someone tail gates me for no reason, i downshift and force them to get off my *** then gas it. It makes me feel like i'm being an *******, but there is no way they'd be able to stop in time if I had to slam on the brakes. Been rear ended too many times.

Well there is a small difference between acceleration normaly and going like granny. If your on a highway route with those oh so luvly stop lights.. if your in the left hand lane for me you should be somewhat accelerating normaly or gunning it lol.. but if in the right lane, do whateva its expected. But on City roads do whateva as long as you hit the speed limit most everyone I know deals with it. If this woman had to lift because you shifted then she was tailgating a bit much. Dont let that woman get under your skin.. ignore her.

Some lady starting honking at me a few weeks ago day because I didn't instantaneouly start moving the split second the light turned green. So, I sat there longer than I needed to (even though I had to wait for bicyclist to get out of the way) on purpose. Damn Honda driver!!!!
That wasn't even the irritating part. It was the fact that she kept honking at me. I couldn't go immediately because two idiots on bicycles thought it was more fun to use the car lane instead of the bike lane right next to us! After I could finally start moving (mind you it was only at about 5-8 MPH) she kept right on honking!!! She kept on honking the whole way across the bridge even though I was going the posted speed at this time and the bicyclists actually went where they were supposed to be. I don't know if she was too stupid to see the bicyclists or what but it clearly was not my fault and she is getting all pissed off at me. She followed me across the bridge and into downtown and when it was obvious we had to wait awhile for the crane to lift materials up to the top of the condos they are building, she gets out of the car, comes up to my window (which was partially down) and then starts yelling at me for driving like a "**** sack" (whatever that meant) and ruining her whole day!!!! What a nut case. I told her there were people on bicycles in front of me and I couldn't very well run them down. She said she didn't care if there was a wall in front of me and I should have moved faster anyway!!!!
I think they lie when they say Portland is a bike-friendly city. Everyone I know hates them and wishes they could run them over. LOL
This lady's plates said she was from California so I figured she just must have been born bitchy. I thought it was more than a little extreme to actually get out of her car to come yell at me for driving too slow. Jeez, people. Take a pill!!!

When someone gets in your face like that you need to take control of the situation. Instead of explaining yourself you should have yelled at her at the top of your lungs:
GIVE ME BACK MY JACKET!!!!
I TOLD YOU YOU COULD BORROW IT, NOT HAVE IT!!! NOW GIVE IT BACK!!!! YOUR STRETCHING IT OUT!!!!!!

lol... No I wouldn't shoot her. I'll robably knock her out though.
Why would someone get out of the car to yell at someone? You have no idea who is driving the car.

If someone walks up to me like that (expecially if I have the top down) I will hit them square in the forehead with the wrench I keep in my cars.
I call that wrench my "theft deterrent system", But mostly I keep it for situations like that.
I put up with **** heads like that at work all day so Im not gonna put up with that when Im not at work.

I had these 2 young ladies ticked at me when I was turning left from a subdivision street onto another one. They popped up over this hill doing at least 45 mph (25 mph zone...lots of houses, kids...you know, subdivision). I turned let and as soon as I was about halfway out in the intersection there they were tearing down this steep little hill towards me. She doesnt even reach for the brakes just honks and keeps on flying back through. No big deal, I'm easy going...just glad I wasnt in the way of her bug ol' F-150..lol.
I pull into my driveway and soon as I turn around to check my mail, there they were. She procedes to tell me how I need to drive....lol...about how I should check blah blah blah with choice words thrown in. I politely told her that the speed limit is 25 mph. She tells me thats what she was doing. I asked her if her speedometer was broken, then laughed. She tells me its people like me (the easy going ones, polite, says thanks) that **** her off. I told her she's the one that has the problem, because I'm not mad about anything. I told her to have a nice day and that was that. She took off.
Why do people act like this, seriously? And besides, what if it was someone with a chip on his shoulder and not me? Could have been ugly.

I love those adds!! They were created by an add agency in Portland for a dealership in the Portland area. They then sold the rights to them so others could use them.

once a woman started honking at me so much at a light that i thought something was seriously wrong, so i didn't take off... she proceeded to get out of her car & come up to my window & yell at me because my "scooter (???) was too f***ing loud!!!"... what on earth?

Yeah, i agree. It was a little out of the blue, but even more startling was her hair. This woman, who appeared to be in her 50's, had one of those hairdoos that you might see in a cartoon; it looked like soft serve ice cream!!
PS- maybe it was just that hot & I was imagining things...
