Cool How do I get my 8 to spit flames?

I've heard that a decat would cause the car to split flames at times, is that correct? Are there any other ways to do it?

Have any UK members done this? Does it pass a smog test when you take it for MOT?

If they do the sniffer test(hose on exhaust type thing) then you will fail for sure without a cat. If they test by the obd2 port then you should be able to trick it into passing.

Yes it does cause you to shoot flames but with the stock exhaust the flames will be kind of small. If you get an aftermarket exhaust the flames can be much bigger.

You must get a Falcon Punch midpipe along with the Donkey Punch catback. You will get massive flaming satisfaction.

^ This! Just FYI, do it! There's nothing like being a huge flamer.

one way to do it is to install a sparkplug in the exhaust and run afuel line to it. there are kits for that. hit the button and flames galore

Skip ahead to a little over a minute.

I know it was just one idiot doing it wrong but I think flame kits are pretty stupid. If the car does it every now and then naturally then thats awesome but adding a spark plug and a fuel line to the exhaust is just trying too hard.

my dad use to do it with his hot rods going way back to the 50s. they did use a plug but just ran it rich so there was enough to light it up. not like the flame throwers they are putting on lead sleds now

It does seem to be a big thing for older hot rods but I would say that is different and more acceptable.

It would be nice to see flames on both exhaust pipes.

His exhaust is single sided so that would be quite an accomplishment.

I'm not looking to get big flames anyway.. I just want flames! And they do the sniffer test... Is there nothing I can do to make it pass the smog test with a decat? Also, what's a catback exhaust?

Where about are you lot from?

In order to pass the test you would have to put the cat back on before the test each time you needed to do the test. I'm not sure what the laws are in England or how strict they are but if you think you can get away with no cat until the test then go for it.

A catback exhaust is the exhaust from the cat(or midpipe) back. Engine>header>cat/midpipe>catback in that order.

Wrong section

I like flames as much as anyone else but this should not be in 'GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE' which is for everything NOT related to RX8s.

Put Dylan in your 8, he spits hot fire

But in all seriousness...has anyone had experience with getting flames with a high-flow cat? That might fit what he's looking for a little better, without having to worry about flunking regulations like MOT.

I have heard from people on here that a high flow cat will most likely not pass the sniffer test. I think it just depends on how strict they are where you live. It is much easier and less expensive to just swap your stock cat pipe back on for emissions. That way you make sure your stock cat stays healthy by not using it most of the year and get the fun of the midpipe.
