How do you feel about buying a Scion? (FT-86)
Because if you want a FT86, you will have to buy the car with a Scion Badge ![Sad](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/sad.gif)

New details have surfaced on Toyota's FT-86 model.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the FT-86 will be badged as a Scion for the United States market and likely be sold under the name FR-S. The site reports that Toyota and Scion marketing executives were informed of the news on Tuesday.
According to the report, the decision was made to shore up the Scion brand, which is struggling in the United States and only does well in a few regions of the country particularly California and Texas. Selling the FT-86 under the Scion brand would also keep its selling price stable and low (as Scion has a fixed pricing structure).
Adding to the story, the site Toyobaru.net also says that the FT-86 will get a 2.5 liter Boxer engine instead of the 2.0 liter that had been previously announced. The FT-86 is a joint development between Toyota and Subaru. The Subaru version of the FT-86, labeled the 216a, will be fitted with a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS).
Toyobaru.net also reports it has only seen information related to a European market release for the Subaru version of the FT-86. The FT-86 will likely be sold in other world markets in Asia and elsewhere solely under the Toyota badge.
Selling price for the Scion FT-86 model will be $25,000 in the United States. Styling changes are expected, to "square" with the Scion brand's more boxy designs. The model is scheduled to debut in 2012.

*sigh* Not that the badging makes much of a difference in the performance / manufacturing of the car ... they all come from the same plant.... but i hate that in the US the marketing has taken core jdm manufacturers and made like 80 different companies out of it.
edit :
And i agree with 9k, it just kills me. Like when they took the NSX and marketed it as Acura ... like COMMEEONNNNNN

i go where the rev goes...just call me stalker #18
honestly i don't care, b/c i wouldn't get it anyway. i hate toyota and would never buy it or a scion. i don't get why they think toyota can't have a sports car and that it needs to be under scion, but whatever, either way they'll ruin the car.

Screw gas mileage
I think the only version of this car that would be worth getting is the Subaru, since it's supposed to be turbocharged (and I have a natural aversion to toyota products)

I vaguely remember driving an old TC before. Felt like I was driving jello or a marshmallow. Everything about the car was squishy and non-responsive. Hated it. If I had a kid I wouldn't push him/her to get one. Haven't driven the new one but it doesn't look much different and the fact that Scion let the TC run for so long without an update tells me they were fine with how the car ran. Not interested. And personally I hate Toyota for 2 reasons: their styling and their commercials. If you bought a 2010 Camry and have had it for 2 months and are bragging about how reliable it is, you're retarded. A 2 month old car starting up every morning doesn't mean ****. And my old T-bird has over 300K miles on it. A car's reliability should be judged on a case by case basis, not a manipulated commercial.
So uhhh yeah I'll pass on the Scion

the subbie version would be pretty good IMHO. i can understand why toyota would sell it under their scion brand. they want to keep toyota very conservative and try to broaden the scion demographic just a little bit. the only toyota i would ever consider buying would be the supra. i can see subaru doing much better sales wise as i think the tuner community would flock to a new turbo RWD setup. hopefully if all goes well the subaru version of the FT-86 will be the new 240sx so to speak.

I think I would slap on a Dodge Emblem, or a Chevy Emblem, just for kicks. Or chevy in the front and dodge in the back. Just tell ppl its a car made by both.

If there is a Scion badge on it I won't even consider it. If the brand is struggling, why not shut it down? Toyota is the one that needs this car in their lineup considering at this time every car in Toyota's lineup is butt ugly and boring.

It's a Cavalier
I don't get this at all... who cares what badge is stuck on it? I'd buy the car if I like it, regardless of what stupid little emblem is on it. Couldn't care less if it's branded Scion.
