How uneducated some people are
"I wouldnt even be affraid of a turbo'd RX8. those cars are a joke. the one that runs by me his first day out with the turbo on his first few passes were 14.2-13.9 by the end of the night he was only able to pull a 13.2.... this was through the course of about 12 runs."
"...but ford does own mazda, am I right ?"
"For the most part we are in this segment and overall we have the best reliability, handling, looks, resale value, amazing high revving * cyn that is bullet proof across our segment and even dipping in 2 others i mean the list goes on. When it comes to a car thats simply fun to drive day and day out with great gas mpg, great looks and reliability the ** is where its at.
This has been proven already they just cant sell enough of these cars WOOT.
People can disagree and hate if they want the proof is in the numbers!!!!"
Quotes pulled from another car forum. Made me sad and surprised to read. I won't say which one but lets say VTAC might have been involved

There is a LOT more ignorance than that out there my friend. I was reading a site literally arguing against the Copernican concept that everything does not revolve around the earth. So a few honda guys talking smack about a relatively poorly selling, misunderstood car seems less than worth discussion.

From the OP's and a few others posts, I take it this thread is about straight line racing....
Red Rex, just because you have an AP(technically speaking) doesn't mean you will spank a civic. There are some very respectable and FAST civic's out there. A gutted eg hatch with a swapped motor (say a b16 NA) which looks like a ricer would walk the dog **** on an NA Rx8 with full bolt on mods.
Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I can deal with the crap people talk about the 8 but face it, this car has fallen way behind the competition since 2004. If the 8 first came out in 2010 in its current form it would be DOA. When people I know talk crap about my 8 the best I can say to them is "Mazda is working on it" Face it, if they can't come up with a reliable rotary with more power/torque and much better MPG it's over.

no **** sherlock.. their completely different besides the similar looks and the same headlights/tail lights.
But its the only publicity of rx8s currently actually winning legitimate races...
Once again the rotary will probably be banned from another race series.

Ford owns (used to own?) controlling interest in Mazda. Since when does Ford build rotary engines? I never understand the "Ford stigma" being attached to the RX-8 when they have NOTHING to do with it.
Wat?
---
A person that berates the "shortcomings" of one car in comparison to their own does so to rationalize insecurities elsewhere.
How's C stock holding up these days anyway?

Back in the day, many auto companies were taking a look at the wankel. There were even a few corvettes tested out with rotary engines. Just not enough torque for their taste
#19
what other race series did the rotary get banned from and why?
#20
Le Mans series, they got banned after the one in 91. Reason to light and to reliable. Didnt break down like the competition counter parts of porsche, gm, ford, bmw, etc..
i think that might be the only one, as in professional races go.

Mazda competed in 1992 with a Judd V10. After 1993, rotaries were allowed, but the big advantage they had in '91 (variable intake horns) were outlawed. A 20B wide body FC RX-7 competed in 1994 and sometime later Jim Downing entered a rotary Kudzu chassis.

This is deffinatly straight line talk.... I'm not telling any racing stories, but some of the worst accidents I almost got in were from me almost slamming into the back of guys that thought they lost me... I'm just saying.

They also banned rotary engines in Macau grand prix for years after knight sports rx7 pwned the other *********.
Just last year they lifted the ban. Knight sports came back and took 2nd place for the 10laps and 1st in overall.
The driver said he thought he was first that's why he didn't push it too hard,
he thought the evo in front of him was the last car. He found out at the last 2laps but it was too late. He almost pass him tho
