Hyundai to enter F1 in 2010

Not surprising. It totally fits with Hyundai's aspirations of becoming a global force and brand like Toyota. They are producing better cars overall than GM and Ford in the US, but that isn't saying much at all.

Just because they run it doesnt mean they will run it will.
you also have to consider the size of hyundai as a corporation as compared to the size of mazda. Sure the rx8 will whip the **** out of a tiburon around any kind of track stock for stock. But Hyundai is a multi-national goliath with a lot more weight(money) to throw around.

with the kind of financial muscle they have, i wouldnt be suprised if they become really competitive in a few years. you guys can laugh all you want, but they will be using the technologies and lessons learned from F1 to improve their regular cars. at least they are going for it, something Mazda is not doing at the moment. so its hard to knock hyudai for it

I actually wasn't knocking Hyundai. I was knocking Mazda for not getting a simple rotary engine to work competitively in ALMS when a company like Hyundai is going to try to tackle the giant that is F1.

They should use that money to build some tanks and go get that ******* to the north!
Just kidding! Actually, the more the merrier. I'd like to see what they can do . . . . what will they be running in 2010 anyway? Will it be an unfair advantage to let them come in with a brand new engine in 2010 when everyone else has had a freeze in engine specs for the past 3 years?

It might be a good thing. They might get rid of the freezing idea because hyundai will have an advantage. I dont like the frozen engine idea or the single tire provider either. Fomula 1 is supposed to be the top level of racing available but it is slowly becoming an extremely restricted sport. How can you be the best when you have all sorts of rule then make it so you cant improve?

I wouldn't take their ambition lightly. Their progession from the Scoupe (unreliable, unsafe crap) to the Tiburon shows that they can develop a product. Deep pockets and conviction are all you need in F1 . Who's to say they won't buy into RedBull or Williams in a few years to get a jump start...also Prodrive will need a dancing partner as soon as 2008.
