Hyundai wants to add a little tuner zing to it's image and so it has offered up several models for the SEMA show. Those models include these three Genesis coupes, along with three other Genesis sedans (more on those in a separate story), which showcase the Korean brand's rear-wheel drive architecture.
First, there's the Rhys Millen Racing Genesis Coupe, with a 2.0 liter 4-banger mated to a turbocharger and a HKS sequential transmission to manage the extra fly-wheel spin. Hyundai calls this a "fully functioning race car" that is track-ready, with a turbocharger courtesy of Turbonetics and all body panels replaced by carbon-fiber.
Second comes the Street Concepts take on the Genesis Coupe, with long-time Hyundai tuner Shawn Williams cloaking this 3.8 liter V6 with his Stealth Fighter conceptual design, which includes camouflage (black) paint.
Lastly (of the coupes, that is) there's the HKS. Another 2.0 liter turbo, this time with HKS's own turbocharger and its Hipermax III "fully adjustable" suspension.
Hyundai may be an Asian brand but it's obvious it's their US division putting out these press releases because they offer no details on engine or track performance on these race cars. Those, one has to assume, will be forthcoming. Or maybe these cars aren't real and just for show.

At least that's professionally done camo. I've seen a couple vehicles in my time that were done in camo by hand, with spray paint. Welcome to the South. I hope and pray we never rise again.

i don't think they look bad at all.. what hyundai should do is create a separate branch like acura, infiniti, lexus, etc. the hyundai badge just doesn't have a positive image. it makes the whole car look cheap

I think they want to elevate Hyundai in luxury brand like lexus because they have Kia to compete with Honda.
Geneses coupe looks very similar to g37 and it is its competition. (genesis is much better car for the money)
They already building drift cars in Korea:

Whole front looks very weak. That character line in the back 3/4 looks unbalanced because there is not a matching line up front, like in the current corvette, for example. It's just a really bad design.
The Genesis sedan looks very generic with a horrendous grille. These 2 cars are so important for Hyundai. The Sonata I think was the first Hyundai to show improved quality that approached the Japanese cars, so the Genesis Sedan and Coupe were, in my eyes, supposed to continue the higher quality while introducing avant garde design. But I think Hyundai has failed in the design department.

I hope it has more power than previous tiburons....they have always disapointed. i mean, their 2.7L V6 only had 170 hp..thats shamefull. hyundais, in my opinion and experience, arent too bad a car as far as quality goes, but their stuff is all way down on power. so they have been makign bigger and bigger engines, but they are still under powered compared to similarly sized engiens from other manufacturers. I almost bought a tiburon years ago, but opted for the lancer i had instead. and im glad i did, taht was one car that didnt dispoint. smaller engine, 1 less gear than the GT tib, but it had more torque and only 10 less Hp and it was faster anyways. Also drove the bag off it and never had one problem. now if only mitsu could step up and make something RWD.

Well, the Genesis Sedan is out right now and the Coupe should come out a little bit after, possibly in the spring???Not sure. I believe the pics of the Coupe are the final production exterior. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Rear end looks strong but doesn't match the front end at all. The front end is really really bad and is made worse by the tiny grille. That rear window kink, although novel, bothers me, notably the curve of the bottom portion. There's got to be a way to improve that look while maintaining the novelty, like for example using only straight lines and no curves.
I wonder if someone can photoshop something like that to see if it looks better. The forum should have a contest to see who can design the best looking rear window for the Genesis Coupe.

This car is a knock off of the G37, Altima coupe is knock off of the G35...
Will the real G please stand up.
Like the rims on the HKS model, too bad I don't have the same feelings about the car.
