I found the bike I want..
I was thinking of getting a ZX-14. Which is insane by itself.
After finding a really old article (a year old), I've changed my mind and I think I'll wait for this to come out.
Star Twin Thunder Star 1200 TDI
Diesel Sport bike
http://www.startwin.com/pagina/bikes...ur/motorEN.pdf
Numbers on some sites have said it's 90hp, 150tq of torque but they say it'll increase to 120hp with 250tq.
From the link provided:
100km on 2.5 Liter = 94 (approx) miles to the gallon, another article I read increased this to 150, but that's speculation.
18 Liter (4.75 gallon tank)
447 mile range
I saw diesel for 2.98 a gallon, that would be 447 (712.5 @ 150) +/- miles for $14.16
That's San Diego to New York on $91 ($57 @ 150). Which is generously assuming that you pay 2.98 everywhere else

Have you been riding allready? Have your License?
Just curious because the ZX14 is going to be a lot of bike. Not a good bike to start out on.
I see it every day on the Hayabusa Boards, and at the shop. Folks want to get the biggest and baddest but they don't have the skills needed to safely manage them. It's not the end of the world, just find an inexpensie used bike to learn on at least. Allmost everyone looses control, or crashes their first bike. Not always a dramatic high speed demise but tip overs and low speed crashes cost a crap load on the sportbikes with all the plastic.
Just a thought.

I've heard the phrase "You will lay your first bike down, period." and I believe it.
I'm a bit impulsive when it comes to things (other than safety), so I'll probably go do the training next week.
I figured a bike would be perfect. 1) my commute is very short (3 miles and city mileage is killing me with the 8). 2) The weather is usually perfect here in San Diego. It makes me miss my convertible.
That and I've been wanting one for years. I think I might be going through my Quarter life-crisis.

Yeah Sounds good, I always recomend new riders start with a POS near dead mid 90's bike. First of all they are inexpensive to own and ride. You can knock them over without crying, and after rolling around on mid-Nineties technology for awhile you will better be able to appreciate just how good the modern bikes are.
Another real good reason to keep it simple with your first bike is that frequently the reality of riding a bike every day conflicts with the perception of riding every day. Lot's of folks find themselves not enjoying the ride or scared off the Bike and end up trying to sell a Brand new Bike and taking a huge depreciation hit. So if ya start off (Couple of Months) on a cheap bike, you can avoid a few of the bigger pitfalls.
