I think that car would be sick with any engine other than an american V8. Rotaries sound great, but so do European V8's and V10's. Yes, I love the sound of the quad rotor in the 787b and even the sound of those dumans cars was sick, but i have to say, a ferrari engine sounds amazing too.

Grassroots said the exhaust system on it is designed specifically for the LS7 and sounds great with it. Have to take their word for it, though.

I don't care for convertables too but this little thing with a rotary would be lots of fun .

To me the GTM just doesn't look like a car that should have a V8 growl to it. It needs a more sonorous engine note. If you've ever heard a multirotor engine you'll understand why I feel they would be at home on one. Could you imagine the sound of the 787B coming out the back of that thing! That would be pure sex on wheels!
I completely agree...a 787B would be pure sex in the GTM car but how possible will that be. It would be impossible to get one. I guess I would have to settle for a Turbo 20B setup...(sarcasm) Oh no what will I do...

Good luck on getting a Attack kit, K-1 has stopped shipping them to the US. Here is the Attack Forum

If you go get parts from 2 13B's and then buy this "kit", you'll have no trouble owning your very own 4 rotor!

It's not really much more money than buying a complete Renesis longblock assembly and then also buying one of the better turbocharger kits out there. Sure the V8 is cheaper but it's not a 4 rotor. Besides if you are going to the trouble to build your own supercar, may as well get what you want. $9500 New Zealand dollars is just a bit over $7000 US dollars right now. Give or take a hundred or so. I'd build my own intake and exhaust manifold fairly easily and run a Haltech on it. Many people can't do this on their own but it's not really that hard.

remember the higher the center of gravity, the more fun the corners become. Well, maybe not.

When the blower is bigger than the engine, I think someone's gone too far...

Hahaha.. what a coincidence. We have gtm #53.. its actually almost running. Have a g50-03 tranaxle and an ls6... pretty good hp to weight ratio. I think even on a midengined car like this 400hp and 400 ft lbs is more than enough consdiering it weighs 2200lbs.

Heres some pictures - http://sio.midco.net/dkroon/gtm/
those are the only pictures I have right now... its actually much further along than it is in those pictures. You can also see some of the parts of the donor car.

Does anyone know if this car is street legal? I am assuming it is considering 1) air conditioning and 2) License plate. I would love to be able to drive it on the street though.

I don't think the Renisis would be a good match though...not enough power. Although it is so lite that it still would be quick. Maybe if it had a Turbo but that fab work would be crazy expensive...Then again your already dumping some major dough. I would prefer to add a 20B but the problem is would the Porshe tranny mate with the 20B?

Can you say 20B TT?!!! I know you can! With about 500wHP...That would be sick!
1) We have a/c in ours.. its a factory option and it only ads like 20 lbs. We figured it would get pretty hot in there being mid-engined... the engine is also shoved way forward into the passenger compartment... kind of like the rx8, but backwards... so the heat is sure to be an issue.

2)The car is completely street legal, they give you a title and everything. It's even being registered in states like california where they have to go through emmision testing.

Surprisingly a lot of people on the gtm forum are talking about using a rotary engine. After working this long on the car.. i wouldn't recomend it.. the manual automatically assumes that you are using a donor car and not seperate parts like you would have to if you weren't getting the donor for the engine.

I'd have to guess we've spent about $45k right now and I'd figure at least another 10k for paint and body.

Awesome. I wish I could see one in person.

I'm actually very surprised that anyone else would want to use a rotary over an LS engine. It's not nearly as convienient. True the car wasn't designed to use a rotay but then again RX-7's and RX-8's weren't designed to use V8's and we see people adapting them to fit. You can already buy an adapter for a rotary to Porsche transaxle so the real issue is going to be custom motor mounts and worrying about intake, exhaust, and cooling systems. While not easy, it doesn't need to be hard. It just isn't as easy as doing it the way they intend you to.

A lot of people on the gtm forum also mentioned that the rotary has an adapter for the g50 transaxle.. I think there is another kit or rolling chassis out there that uses a rotary engine but it was around $90k. Curb weight was crazy low though.

I seen the GTM videos before, back when I was looking at these kit cars. They all share low weight, V8 engine, no airbags, no company emblem badges, gutted-out racing interior, and salvaged steering wheel. The lack of exterior brand emblems gives them the fake Viper look. There are many positives, but these negatives can weigh heavily to some.

The amazing thing is, I could build one of these for just slightly more than the price of a new RX-8.
