I'm going on some test drives
Or should I say rides. In my quest to find something fun I am getting some saddle time on a 600RR and ZX-6R tomorrow. Both belong to freinds of mine so I should get a decent chunk of time on them.
Anyone have any experience with these bikes? any thoughts on other 600cc bikes?

RX8 and a Truk....
I Have a 2004 zx6R - which year are you going to be riding? If it's the 2003-2004 model watch your nuts. The tank isn't nut-friendly...it takes quite awhile to get used to, and comfortable with the bike. If it's the 2005 model, you'll be fine.
That Kawi...either model years...the engine is AMAZING. That's what drew me to the bike. I simply wanted the most powerfull 600 I could buy. Once I got used to the riding position my appreciation for the bike grew.

It's a 05 zx6r, brand new he just picked it up 2 weeks ago. The 600RR is an '04. They should be here any minute! from what I have read I think the honda might be the best fit. I am not the greatest rider in the world, nor have I been riding very long. It sounds like an easy bike to ride hard.

RX8 and a Truk....
wow....
Yeah - frankly? I'd never suggest a newer 600 to a new rider...perhaps a mid 90s R6? something with less than 100hp would be fine. The 05 ZX6R has a solid 115hp. 15 hp on a light bike is a LOT of power.
Good luck! Be safe!

I am not really a new rider. I have ridden for a couple years, just no bike of my own. I rode my freinds bikes a lot last summer, even an rc51. I know if I were to get something smaller I would be trading up half way through the season, and I just don't see the point of that.

Not that pretty to look at, but lighter, more low end torque and lots of fun to drive:

Awesome, awesome riding. Got about an hour with each bike on some nice roads.
I really don't think you could go wrong with either of these things. I never really opened them up to hard, so I didn't feel a power difference. It seems zx6r has the advantage there. Comfort was definitely in the hondas favour. It had a more comfortable, though less agressive, riding position and the seat was nice. Both of them handled better than I can ride, but I felt better really leaning the Honda over, the backend just felt more planted. There was a pretty bumpy corner and the honda ate it up, but I felt pretty sketchy on the kawasaki. I got the impression that the kawi is way more focused on track riding than street riding, and probably for a technically better rider. That, hopefully, will come in time.
I need to get me some freinds with a gixxer and an r6! It would be nice to get a bike, but it leaves a little to be desired in the convinience department! but, I don't really have anywhere to go this summer. Hmmmm, track days with a bike could be fun. Hmmmmmmmmm

Nice man you'll have a blast on that R6. I got a ride on one a couple years ago and that thing was unreal. The dude was popping wheelies and accelerating so fast I couldn't breathe. I felt completely unsafe and sorta violated, but I had a helluva good time!!! Enjoy the ride!!
I don't know too much about bikes, so what size is the R6? 600cc?
