Do anybody know the procedure in importing a car from Japan? My mother-in-law will get rid of her car soon (Japan has strict car law), and rather than have her waste a good car like that, would like to know how much it would cost to ship it here and the paperwork required to do it (not to mention, which company is reliable to use to ship to Portland port). Any leads, much appreciated!!!

Surprised no one has responded to this unless you got a few PM's.
There is some paper work I'd imagine but first you'll have to see if the car can be brought over legaly. I know someone who's husband owned a Lotus Elise in England. They wouldnt let him bring his Elise over because it wasnt (at the time) legal in the states. A few months after coming to the US he see's one and finds out if he listed the car as a "Kit Car" he coulda had it shipped over. Your gonna have to do a lot of leg work (well in this age its more finger work ova the internet) to research this. I'd imagine it might cost a few grand upwards of maybe 5k since its from Japan. Call up a few local shipping companies (obviously not UPS lol) and see what they can possibly quote you or how they may help you out. Hell you might luck out and find one that will do all the paper work for you to get the car here who knows![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Cute little car that has limited production in Japan. From Nissan and its name is March: not current style you can google. Basically, it is like one of those smaller cars you see in the US now-a-days, but with more style and character. Be a waste to scrap it since in Japan, they LITERALLY have to junk it after certain yrs..it isn't like in the US where you can actually sell it and make some decent $$. Otherwise, she would :p Hmm..now I have to find reliable shipping companies in Portland..and speaking of which, no one, besides you, have replied to this thread with more info
