infiniti SUV

Nissan's luxury division Infiniti has released the first pictures of the QX56, its new full-size sport-utility vehicle. The eight-passenger QX56 goes into production early next year at the company's new plant in Mississippi and features a 5.6-liter V-8, rear- or all-wheel drive, leather seats, and a navigation system. The QX56, Nissan says, will be the first Infiniti model assembled in North America. The QX56 goes on sale next spring.

It's $50k base and $58k loaded. The Infiniti QX56 is almost exactly the same car (inside and out) as the Nissan Armada ($35k-$47k), but somehow uglier (headlights are just so awful). The side profile is actually worse than the front..
Even at Freshalloy most people in the QX56 forum agree it is about the most ugly vehicle since the Aztec. However it is well equipped and very, very big (bigger than an Expedition).

I'm not too impressed by it, but Nissan's just following the money and I can't blame them. The Ford Expedition, Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban, etc... are all good sellers, and high profit items. Nissan put out the Pathfinder Armada just a few weeks ago, and already I'm seeing quite a few on the road.
I still don't understand the buyers' logic, though. If I had a 5.6 liter DOHC V-8 with 300 peak horsepower and 359 pound feet of peak torque, I'd rather put it into a nice little coupe and zip around like a bat out of hell. (Assuming I couldn't get a rotary, of course :D )
On the other hand, I think the Infiniti FX35 and FX45 look really nice. I wouldn't get one, but I wouldn't turn it down if they were giving them away either.
