Extraordinary Engineering
It looks like it melted....
Edit:
The full shots make me think that more WRX owners will head our way. There has to be a limit to how much ugly they want to be seen in.

Eh... it looks so horrible now but just wait. Like every subaru the next model looks awful and then for some reason magically grows on everyone. I used to only like the bug-eyes.. then I finally warmed up to the 04-05.. then I actually warmed up to the 06's as well.
The front looks very civic-ish with the grill and headlights being sort of one piece. I'm sure with some minor tweaks that the subaru aftermarket is so used to doing the car will look ok.
You cant argue that a mazda 3 with awd wouldn't be a great car.. well here it is.

They are chops. It appears that the car is a 2.5i hatch chopped to be a WRX and the engine bay is a legacy with a color change.
Remove the chrome in the grill and it is pretty darn close to the real deal we will see on the 5th.

well, new sti perspective owners better jump on the late model stis. they are always headed towards that ugly "futuristic and flow", even though flow is mazda, bad body designs. there is always this one car that stays the same... i think its called the rx8? anyone know of it?

Go Texas Longhorns!
its a freakin full on melt down on NASIOC.com, it looks chopped but very close to the spy shots, so I guess we'll see.
personally, I like it better than the current front end, but its still not great. the new EVO I like better...too bad it weighs so much more.
I love the following comments:
"Mazda called, they want their Mazdaspeed 3 back"
"who ever compared this car to the Mazdaspeed 3 needs to call MNAO and apologize..."

April fool's joke. Has to be.
No company could possibly be stupid enough to release a car that's THAT ugly. Right? I mean, they do actually have to sell the things...Right?

If it isn't, to me the car looks a lot like a cross between a BMW 1 series and the MP5, both of which I like. If they do a STI 5 door hatch, I may have to jump back to the Subaru camp.

I can't even begin to tell you how much people hated the Bugeye Impreza when it was first unveiled. The way some people were acting you'd think Subaru had raped their mother. Nowthey go on and on about how all the new designs aren't as good as the bugeye.

This one just looks too...wussy. It has heavy echoes of cheap Korean cars with a dash of the boringness of a Camry. About the only redeeming factor is the profile, which seems to be lifted directly from a Mazda 3, and one photoshop with the red tail lights kind of toned down the horror show that they call a rear end. I doubt I'll ever like it - I've always had a little bit of "well, it's really not THAT bad..." in me with the previous redesigns. This one gets worse the more I look at it.

Ditch the tails, get rid of the chrome on the grille and rearend, and I think it will look really nice. However, most americans don't like hatches so it will never be as well received as the sedan. I think the side profile is nice than the Mazda 3 and I other than the few parts I don't like I like it better as a whole.

Ugly ugly front end. The rest of it looks fine. The interior is a bit dowdy. The new Lancer interior looks much nicer.
Past the grill, it is a Subie copy of the BMW 1-series 5DR sold outside the US.
