The finished 5 laps down from the leaders. When it came to all out power, the car wasn't doing too bad but they were slower. When they'd get next to an Audi or a Penske Porsche, they would get passed but they wouldn't just get walked. They were probably a couple of seconds slower a lap. However this is only when there is no lap traffic. They really need to work on this as they are not nearly as aggressive with lap traffic as the other guys are. This is where they'd really fall apart and the other cars would pull away. They need to work on being more aggressive when it comes to passing slower cars.
It was good to at least see a finish. The car is beautiful. Really cool looking machine. When it goes by, it just doesn't have a sound that can evoke a strong emotion. It's actually quite boring and ordinary sounding. When the rotary was in there, you knew what was coming and it sounded good! This just doesn't do it for me.
There were 2 special F1 cars there. If you've never heard an F1 car in person before, you are truly missing out. They are the most incredible things you'll ever hear and they do it at a volume level that can make your ears bleed. Is it even possible to have fun while going deaf? I'm not sure but you almost think it's possible. These were last years V10 engines revving up to about 19000 rpm or so. These cars were actually slightly stretched as they carry passengers. The passenger sit direction behind the driver and stradles him. It's a bit hard to explain. For a mere $5000 you can pay to get quite literally a few laps in the car. When you think about it, they aren't going as fast as the regualr race cars do. They have slightly longer wheelbases and the weight of a passenger. Although they also don't need to carry around near as much fuel as a true race version. These cars were still besting the fastest Champ Car qualifying time by about 2 seconds. With passengers! Wow! I'd love to see what a real F1 car could have done. Those things are scary fast.

Good to finally see a finish! Though I am not expecting them to be really strong till they get DI on the motor, at this point they don't have a complete car. Then I expect to see some good results and hopefully some wins.

I think they where over cautious with trafic, and I just cant blame them, after 3 DNF, next race they will be more agresive, one thing is clear Devlin is much faster than Bach over a second

Go Texas Longhorns!
It was a good race, my friends team captured 3rd. RG has some good pics he can post. I got a ride in a Miata Cup car this morning around the track hot lapping, now that was fun.

I'll say something I have said before.
I think its amazingly impressive that they are as close to the leaders as they are considering the Kumho tires.
We all know that the Michelins are so far superior to anything else out there, in the past drivers saying they were good for several seconds a lap by themselves. With the Mazda Lola that close to the Acura Lola running Michelins is really impressive. I'm sure the Kumhos are getting pretty good, but I still dont think they are as good as the Michelins. It'd be really interesting to see what the car could do on equal tires.
I think it was a really positive weekend. They were very close in times and finished the race well.
Now they get to go back to the shop and try to decipher some of what they have learned the last two months. Hopefully they can really start to bring out an A-game at Utah, though you can be sure everyone else will as well.

For the most part the after race party wasn't all that. There were really only a handful of drivers there and those that were were pretty much Formula Atlantic drivers and a few of the lesser known Champ Car drivers. The only one I had ever heard of was Mario Dominguez. That was pretty much it.

That sucks. I was hoping for some shots of Katherine Legge. :D I got some neat pics from the race, but I have to learn myself how to post pictures and all that. And it could take awhile, if you look at my name you'll know why...
I had a blast at the race, didn't really talk to anyone, but then again I'm not the most social of people. I had last year's BK team shirt, and it was funny to watch the guys try to figure out who I was to have one of their shirts. After the race Mr. Back himself started to come up to me on his way back to the pits, but quickly determined I had a big bag of nothing and continued on his way.

The BK car was having tire issues all weekend. Kumho didn't provide the compound Mazda wanted. Houston is also hard track to get through traffic in. At least it finished without and problems this time.

Yeah I suspect the tires are the same issue for Intersport. Over all they aren't doing bad for a small team with an extremely new car. Give them time, next season they should be much better.
