Found some new updates for everyone.
http://www.mulsannescorner.com/news.html
"The ACO today announced changes to the 2008 LMP1 regulations. Before we get to that, In their press release its interesting to note a somewhat defensive posture, as though changes actually aren't warranted:
"It should be pointed out that the 2007 24-Hours race highlighted the overall balance of the regulations currently in force with breath-taking suspense right the finish, and the presence of 3 different manufacturers on the rostrum (Audi, Peugeot and Pescarolo). This has only happened once in the last 30 years (1999, with BMW, Toyota and Audi)."
The changes are ultimately minor, a 3% restrictor area increase for the gas powered cars coupled with a reduced overall minimum to 900 kgs for all competitors. The weight reduction is perhaps the more significant of the two changes though it is somewhat disheartening that it has been granted for all. But in some ways this is a de facto bonus for the gas powered cars as it would seem the diesels are still struggling to reach even the 925 kgs minimum (dailysportscar quotes between 925-931 kgs for the R10s and 937 & 941 kgs for the 908s at Le Mans this year). Though I wouldn't put it past Audi and Peugeot to begin to moan about that while shoveling fist-fulls of cash into crash weight reduction programs. The reality is that the gas powered cars have been running around with substantial levels of ballast to meet the 925 kgs (remember that December 2005 surprise?) and therefore can immediately chuck off the amount needed to meet the new minimum. One can argue that for once the manufacturers may have to dig deep to reach that goal, but then again we're approaching the end of the season and have a long winter ahead of us before the '08 season begins..."
Then for the upcoming race at Petit, practice times seem to be going good for the B-K team. "Times were quick throughout the field with B-K Motorsports' Lola P2 entry just 0.5 seconds off last year's class qualifying mark."

On a side note does anyone check the forum at the alms website? I can't seem to register or even browse their forums.

I'm trying to listen to the race on my laptop via globecast link thru the ALMS website but I'm getting a codec error code C00D1199 with my windows media player.
Anyone know which codec I need to download?

I didn't get to see the race, but from what I've heard Mazda did really well today and sometimes things break. I know things have broken a lot this year, but we do know the car has some speed to it. One more this year and then they'll be kicking *** next year!

well, good job to BK today. They've proven that this car can be very very fast.
but i would rather have 5 moving parts than 40+. They must first finish in order to finish first.

In regards to the rotary/piston debate, we can't let rotarygod off the hook in telling us which website to go to for the rest of the story as well as when to go there...

Yeah, its a shame they had mechanical issues 30 laps from the finish. At the time they were running 3rd in P2 and 5th overall. All in all a pretty good showing, although I would have liked to have seen them finish there as well.

Details schmetails, I'd just like to know why the rotary was dismissed. At least for now...
I'd also like to say I know NO reason to think the rotary will ever come back, I just can't sign it off in my own mind...

The ALMS site is lagging like crazy, i can't load the live timing.
The 2 Acuras that spun out should get back to the top very soon..... 4 seconds is a huge gap in 74 seconds lap.

okay, ALMS radio and live timing works
Seems like the Audi is pulling away, do you think their fuel consumption (at this speed) can match the porsches?
Autocon creation is in the pits already...
Also, its interesting to see the Intersport team field the old Lola instead of the new Creation they got this year... seems like they still cant get the creation up to speed.
