From planetlemans:
Portuguese website Sportmotores reports that Quifel ASM has not reached an agreement with Mazda and will therefore stay with AER for the 2008 season.
The Portuguese team felt the support offered was not enough for an engine ?in development? and will bet on their well known power plant again this year. The team will be testing in Estoril on February 10th and 11th with Miguel Amaral and Olivier Pla.
Thanks to Hugo Ribeiro for the information.

Check out Mazda's new Lola-Courage B65!
They integrated the front and crash structure/intake of the C65 onto the Lola B07
Man, I am not sure this is the way to do things. To an untrained eye this might look like an improvement. Are they not getting enough front downforce with the Lola front end? Can't they do some R&D of their own? This "transformation" costs them nothing. I hope the improvement won't be nothing, or negative.
Haha, Lola might never do business with them again! Courage is not known for their aero development anyways. Its a piece of bodywork from 2003 they're using.

Actually, all of the bodywork is from Courage, the distinctive Lola pontoon fender is gone.
This is a C65 bodywork on a Lola chassis. Wow this car is gonna stir some discussions.

That is really interesting. I take it this is the leftovers from the furai, but at the sebring winter test BK was running the Lola bodywork. Good catch Renesis. Did you here the other big news?
I am excited at the driver change and do wish Bach the best of luck also.

I think Mazda is feeling the pressure of having a big sponsor and this move is a big step forward!!!! GO MAZDA !!!!! ZOOM ZOOM!!!!

I was there, I talked to Ben Devlin, Gerardo Bonilla, and John doonan. They said that jaime wanted to do other things. Him and his dad have a construction company back in wisconsin and he wanted to concentrate on not only that, but also other things he is working on, so HE IS OUT!!

1-I really doubt that the courage is more aerodynamic than the lola
2- this prove that the "theory" that the courage was not getting sufficient air was hot air indeed

Guys, Mazda (BK) is racing the full Lola, they simply repainted their old Courage to match the new sponsorship to use as a show car.
Incidentally, Acura did the same thing when they first announced their program. They took a very old Lola (B01/60) from one of their new teams (Highcroft) and repainted it like their future Acuras would look. Then they took that car on the show circuit.

The "old Courage" is now the Furai concept car. It is the old Courage chassis. They only have one. The body work from the Courage was still lying around though as that's what they removed to make the Furai.

I disagree. Rotaries need way more cooling than piston engines do. It's obvious the chassis had decent cooling for piston engines. That's what it was designed for. The rotary couldn't get enough cooling air though. Since they are using a piston engine now, they don't need the cooling power. Specifically in the oil.

yes, thats what i thought too, they only had 1 courage chassis, and its the Furai now.
Unless they've acquired another one. But to only use it as a show car is a little waste of money, just show the real one like the Speedsource RX-8 along side it at the event.

From what others have said BK actually has two Lola's. So this is more than likely the other lola with the courage bodywork.
The idea of having two Lola's might be in response to the Lime Rock wreck.....extra parts to have around.

That would make sense. That definitely is not the Courage. Since they had leftover bodywork, there was really nothing to lose by experimenting with it on the Lola.

Acording to the engine builder for the courage the engine temps where just about perfect

Maybe they're secretly experimenting a 3-rotor on the Lola chassis covered by Courage bodywork =)

Don't know if everyone saw it but the Mazola got bent up pretty good today in qualifying for Sebring.

They do have the second chassis (or is it a full car?) so hopefully they'll be able to make the race on Saturday. Bet those mechanics don't get to sleep till Sunday...

At 3:43 pm, red flag all. Ben Devlin (#8-P2 Lola B07 46 Mazda) off and apparently slightly airborne and stopped on top of the tire barrier. Driver is out of the car and OK, but the car will need a tow.
Ben Devlin (#8-P2 Lola B07 46 Mazda) had the incident at the exit of turn 1. The clock continues to run. Devlin
is report OK, but the car is heavily damaged, as is the tire barrier.
