ridged: Your rx8 is a mazda...a mazda is part of ford...your rx8 shares parts with the new 2005 FORD Mustang.

What's wrong with parking next to a Ford? To answer your question, the engine in the Mazda 3 is designed by Mazda.

It's both and thats not just engine so deal with it. I hate stupid posts like this. "OMG, my car's battery tie down is from Ford, will my house explode?"

wow what a f-ing mess of thread...to sum it up and get at the important stuff...

the Mazda3 is Made in Japan, so is the RX-8...the Mazda 6 is made in the US and has a ford engine that was modified by Mazda engineers

the RX-8's only true Ford attribute it the horn and DANG is it loud (the rest has been tinkered with the closest to that would be the compenent HU I think)

btw the Mazda3 is a GREAT car...leaps and bounds above the Honda Civic AND Accord, Toyota anything...and the Mazda3 price can't be beat. Sexier too in a cute sort of way

no seriously leaps and bounds...you can get xenon lighting, 17inch wheels, navigation 30 or more HP for the the same price as a civic...heck an accord is even worse and it has less HP then the Mazda3s!!!!

in regards to Blueeyes, as a whole your are a curmudgeon lighten up :D

I would be worried, too, to be driving a Ford. HOWEVER, then engineering is going in the other direction. Ford can't build cars worth $hit, so they buy companies that CAN, and then rebadge them as their own! ie: Ford 500 and Freestyle are based off of the Volvo S60 chassis. Ford Fusion is a Mazda 6. The EURO-only next gen Focus will be on the current Mazda3/Volvo S40 chassis. It's TOO GOOD for them to use here!

What I'm saying is that Ford is using these other companies to create better cars under the Ford name, not to demolish those companies' names by selling Ford vehicles under them.

Ford has some vehicles not for sale here that I would love to drive. I.e. the Ford Focus RS, faster than a WRX...around a track(at least from what I've see). That thing puts down good numbers and it isn't too ugly. I was just discussing this with BlueEyes, America does not bing over enough awesome cars from Europe. We suck too much to drive those cars here.

American companies always have the better cars over seas. Anyway, I think the Mazda 3 is a great car (the "hatch" is ugly). If I didn't get the MSP, I would have gotten a loaded Mazda 3. They are great and fun cars. Comes with great options and standard packages that other cars in its class doesn't even have.

Mazda has to build a WRC version of the 3 as it did 15 years ago (4WD and adapted body like the Evo or the STi).
I don't see why Citroen, Peugeot, Hyundai and Skoda are participating but Mazda doesn't.
Also it might make more sense if Mazda would participate instead of Ford for marketing reasons (or what's that zoom zoom all about anyway?).
