besides, i really don't understand why Mazda designer insists with roof rails on Mazda6 SW. i really hate 'em... a lot of design work for a sporty look ruined by roof rails.....

i agree.. i don't want them STOCK....ok for an aftermarket option.....
3series don't have, Audi have just a small "deco" (not a proper bar)...
Passat have it, but is not "sporty" like a 6
Mazda wagons have always roof bars since 626 wagon....is time to change IMHO...

Personally I like the rails so it does not bother me. Remember you are looking at a test mule so who knows what they are testing. Perhaps they brought a bunch of equipment with them and used the rails for storage? Or they will be an option and in this particular test they mounted them to make sure they are secured and do not rattle.

I was expecting the center console to be a bit more upscale and different from the CX-5... Not disappointed, but just expecting something more attractive since Toyota, Honda, etc got their center consoles right.

The new 6 can't come to soon. The current US one is awful. Right above the late 90's 626. It is to bad they didn't change a bit of the interior compared to the CX-5; however, it is getting good marks for materials and ergonomics. One thing I wish Mazda would do is get a better nav/multimedia system. The way it slots in the dash it screams aftermarket/non-integrated.

I was just wish for something higher class and looks actually integrated, not something pulled from a parts pin. With a console like that competing against its aged rivals, it still looks outdated.
The exterior on the other hand looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS even under the camo. I hope they release it ASAP in the states with the Sky-D. Might have to consider one of these instead of the CX-5 Sky-D.

I think that can be quite deceptive and you have to look at the what the sales consisted of and possible reasons. Since it is an end of life vehicle, I think Mazda must be offering deep discounts to private buyers and massive discounts to fleet buyers who love to get cars dirt cheap. The outgoing Altima ended up being the 2nd best selling midsize family sedan last year behind the Camry. How does this happen to a 5+ year old car? Nissan pretty much dumped them in the fleet market. Nearly every new Altima you see on the road nowadays has a bar code in one or more of the windows - the telltale sign of a rental.
For a small and financially struggling company like Mazda, I am sure fleet sales would be very attractive to them.

Apparently it's coming with a brake regen / capacitor system to use some braking energy to provide electrical power: Mazda to use regen brakes to boost fuel economy 5 to 10 percent - Autoweek

yeah that ultra-capacitor system will eventually show up in the whole line-up.
whoah- "Production starts at the Hofu plant in August"
Read more: Mazda to use regen brakes to boost fuel economy 5 to 10 percent - Autoweek
that seems a bit early??? they have to introduce the thing first and Paris isnt until end of Sept/beginning or Oct. Frankfurt starts Sept 18 which might be the place for debut but I still cant see them starting production in august when they dont announce til middle of the following month

We have had every iteration of Mazda's 6 (626) Wagon, Sedan and Hatch.
From what I have read over the years there has been a lot of talk in the US with US buyers wanting a 6 Wagon,
the only reason the current GH NA 6 is not offered in a Wagon was tooling costs/sales unit for the wider bodied 6.
That all changes after this year.
You had the GG Wagon ,hatch, and sedan in 03 and 06MY, so I
can't see why you wont get the Japan made 3 some for the all new GI Mazda 6 for 2013.

I'd rather mail them asking for a COUPE version.

For me the deadline remains Paris at the end of September.
Charlie, this year Frankfurt MS is just for commercial veichles..
