oooh pretty.thanks Matt. the only thing that bothers me is the rake of the rear pillar. not because it doesnt look good, it does, but that will limit cargo room behind the second row

yes, but gives to lateral view a more "sporty" look...

besides, i really don't understand why Mazda designer insists with roof rails on Mazda6 SW. i really hate 'em... a lot of design work for a sporty look ruined by roof rails.....

A lot of people will use the rails so it makes sense for Mazda to add them

Maybe because they realized there is a market for them

I have no idea if it is an option from Mazda or not but IMO they should be.

CX5

CX7

CX9

i agree.. i don't want them STOCK....ok for an aftermarket option.....

3series don't have, Audi have just a small "deco" (not a proper bar)...

Passat have it, but is not "sporty" like a 6

Mazda wagons have always roof bars since 626 wagon....is time to change IMHO...

Personally I like the rails so it does not bother me. Remember you are looking at a test mule so who knows what they are testing. Perhaps they brought a bunch of equipment with them and used the rails for storage? Or they will be an option and in this particular test they mounted them to make sure they are secured and do not rattle.

Not loving it, but kudos to Mazda for continuing to come out with designs that take chances and look different. The opposite of a Sentra.

I was expecting the center console to be a bit more upscale and different from the CX-5... Not disappointed, but just expecting something more attractive since Toyota, Honda, etc got their center consoles right.

The new 6 can't come to soon. The current US one is awful. Right above the late 90's 626. It is to bad they didn't change a bit of the interior compared to the CX-5; however, it is getting good marks for materials and ergonomics. One thing I wish Mazda would do is get a better nav/multimedia system. The way it slots in the dash it screams aftermarket/non-integrated.

OH, come on awful is a little harsh.
Most owners appear to really like their US made 6 and journalists also like it?

My exact thoughts on the navigation unit. Now I have no complaints about small screen units, just the way it's recessed and looks like an aftermarket double din system. The HVAC, I like since it has some what of a BMW/VW-esque, and they are renown for their superior ergonomics. Hell, I'd say Mazda copied the Germans on it especially since they did mention their hopes for their interior developments to measure up against the Europeans.

I was just wish for something higher class and looks actually integrated, not something pulled from a parts pin. With a console like that competing against its aged rivals, it still looks outdated.

The exterior on the other hand looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS even under the camo. I hope they release it ASAP in the states with the Sky-D. Might have to consider one of these instead of the CX-5 Sky-D.

I’d be surprised if Mazda even sells a 6 wagon in the US I bet it will only be in European markets.

considering the fact that netx-gen MAzda6 for you US citizens will be imported from Japan(and not a specific US-model) is just a marketing problem.

If MNAO will, you'll get the wagon....

write mails to MNAO asking SW version....

I don't think that there are that many owners to like it - I mostly see them as rental cars. I think journalists here tepidly like it since it is still somewhat sport compared to other family sedans, but the 6 has been pretty much banished from any comparison tests due to its age, lack of market traction, and so so comparison test placement when new.

I think that can be quite deceptive and you have to look at the what the sales consisted of and possible reasons. Since it is an end of life vehicle, I think Mazda must be offering deep discounts to private buyers and massive discounts to fleet buyers who love to get cars dirt cheap. The outgoing Altima ended up being the 2nd best selling midsize family sedan last year behind the Camry. How does this happen to a 5+ year old car? Nissan pretty much dumped them in the fleet market. Nearly every new Altima you see on the road nowadays has a bar code in one or more of the windows - the telltale sign of a rental.

For a small and financially struggling company like Mazda, I am sure fleet sales would be very attractive to them.

Apparently it's coming with a brake regen / capacitor system to use some braking energy to provide electrical power: Mazda to use regen brakes to boost fuel economy 5 to 10 percent - Autoweek

yeah that ultra-capacitor system will eventually show up in the whole line-up.

whoah- "Production starts at the Hofu plant in August"

Read more: Mazda to use regen brakes to boost fuel economy 5 to 10 percent - Autoweek

that seems a bit early??? they have to introduce the thing first and Paris isnt until end of Sept/beginning or Oct. Frankfurt starts Sept 18 which might be the place for debut but I still cant see them starting production in august when they dont announce til middle of the following month

Ah, last time I checked we were not part of Europe.

We have had every iteration of Mazda's 6 (626) Wagon, Sedan and Hatch.

From what I have read over the years there has been a lot of talk in the US with US buyers wanting a 6 Wagon,
the only reason the current GH NA 6 is not offered in a Wagon was tooling costs/sales unit for the wider bodied 6.

That all changes after this year.

You had the GG Wagon ,hatch, and sedan in 03 and 06MY, so I
can't see why you wont get the Japan made 3 some for the all new GI Mazda 6 for 2013.

I'd rather mail them asking for a COUPE version.

i report some rumor here in EU about the possibility of a launch (SW only) @ Moscow Motor Show at the end of August. But this year event seems not to host a single Manufacturer.

For me the deadline remains Paris at the end of September.

Charlie, this year Frankfurt MS is just for commercial veichles..
