Mazda ACCESSORIES Sales Gets Even Hotter!
http://enginefolder.com/
Mazda maintains its strong and meticulous selection of vehicle accessories to come up with not just something hot and new but exciting and functional as well. In regard to this endeavor, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) reported a 20 percent increase of sales of Mazda accessories through the first half this year. This figure is in comparison to that of the 2005 sales record.
Mazda’s new offerings include SIRIUS® Satellite Radio, remote-start systems, plus a full line of accessories for the new CX-7 crossover SUV. Consequently, the accessory fever continues as the automaker adds one great accessory to enjoy. Genuine Mazda Accessories launched an exclusive iPod Integration Module, which allows customers to connect, charge, and operate their iPod through their vehicle’s audio system. It can be recalled that Mazda was the first to offer iPod® Integration Module in all its 2007 cars and SUVs around the world.
To assess the performance of Genuine Mazda Accessories, sales of MAZDASPEED Performance Accessories is getting better and better. Sales have almost doubled each year since its introduction to the market. To boost the sales further, Mazda introduced its key offerings for this year which include upgraded suspension systems and cat-back performance exhaust systems for MAZDA3, MAZDA6, RX-8 and MX-5. MAZDASPEED, on the other hand, offers OEM-quality “cold air” induction systems with full warranty. Said system is used to augment horsepower without weakening emissions.
The overwhelming sales are proofs to overall customer satisfaction. According to Jack Stavana, director of accessory operations for MNAO, “Our objective with the Mazda Accessories program is to provide products that actually enhance the driving experience for Mazda customers. Mazda drivers are young and passionate, and Mazda accessories provide them with the means of expressing their enthusiasm on their vehicle.”
Mazda’s comprehensive accessories program also include in-dash single and six-disc CD changers, cassette players, MiniDisc players and the newly introduced PhatBox ® Digital Media Player. They are available at over 200 specific Mazda dealers across the country.

Pretty sad that the OEM industry has come VERY late to the party in regards to accessories and aftermarket upgrades. Scion, regardless of how you feel about the brand, has capitalized on this greatly. Every car comes with the same trim level but you can order accessories to your heart's content all with a factory warranty.
Mazda is a bit late to this party but I applaud any effort to provide aftermarket upgrades that allow people to keep their warranty.

Yes Todd...we are as one on this issue..
I would like Mazda to take the "Accessorisaton" to the next level, and that is at the/your vehicles assembly..
Why not, you can do it in Japan, so why not the rest of the world?
If a Mazda "buyer" is prepared to wait, and commitment via a contract/sale agreement then again Why not??...
You could have guys like us ordering/specifying what they want from a factory customization.
It is 2010 for PS...
Yes, I can see "some" issues with clients and a dealers waiting, but it would be an "OPTION", you would still have your "standard" spec cars as we know of today, just the ability to "upgrade" your pride and joy with genuine factory installed equipment....like Mazdaspeed.
Yes, you are certainly going to PAY for this privilege, but WHY NOT...it can be done...YES WE CAN!
Come on Mazda NAO and Jim O'Sullivan get off your large BUTT and DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT..
Come on Mazda Australia and Doug Dickson get off your large BUTT and DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT..

Good thing about Mazdaspeed stuff is that --- You know it will fit and work on your car 100%, and dealership will never be able to bitch (as long as you installed it correctly)
It cost a little bit more sometimes, but its not so bad IMO
yea ... if MNAO work a little harder like Toyota did to Scion ...

A good friend of mine had an awesome business model that fit this kind of thinking. The idea was a combination of an aftermarket shop and a dealership.
As an example, you want to buy an RX8 but already fitted with all the aftermarket parts you can shake a stick at. You would choose the car, options and then all the parts you would want installed. The business would install all the parts on the car and warranty them (how long I don't know) and you as the owner would purchase the vehicle.
The problem was getting a bank to finance the purchase. Most banks will only allot up to 130% of the vehicles actual worth for a loan. When you factor in a body kit, FI setup and suspension that adds up quickly.
Still, I've known plenty of people (myself included) that would have paid up front for all this stuff and just paid on a loan for it. While the costs would be more than paying cash for the parts I could enjoy the car much much longer.
Mazda could easily employ the same strategy but on a smaller scale. Besides, the future of car purchases will be done this way. You test drive a base model and then order a car with your specs. The car arrives and you live happily ever after!
