MAZDA BT-50 All New from Isuzu On Sale...soon.
Yes this old bugga (me) is still alive....
Well here is the FINAL all new Mazda model that sees the end of Ford, anything Ford, NO MORE FORD...YES!!.
The outgoing Mazda BT-50 was a joint collaboration with Ford and Mazda, the Ford Ranger is/was the now old BT-50 brother.
Anyway this all new Mazda BT-50 is a rebadged Isuzu D-Max, with the obligatory Mazda CX-9 looking front nose and differentiating
external panels, everything under the skin and drive train is all Isuzu, the interior is slightly different to the Isuzu D-Max, but is still Isuzu made.
Everything is.
Just on a side note Isuzu (was or is once GM owned) made in Japan all of Mazda T-Series light Commercial trucks,
like T2000, T2500, T3000, T3500, T4000, T4500 mostly Diesel and all Isuzu, VERY reliable units.
Anyway, the all new MAZDA BT-50 Ute/Pickup is about to be launce I think early October.
A much better looking Ute/pickup over the outgoing BT-50 that just died, my god did Japan stuff up
the design looks of that model with the big smiley face, sales dived and NEVER recovered here becasue of that model.
This all new one is definitely much better and classier, however again IMO Mazda have overdone it, as it looks too 'pretty'
or feminine, after all this is a work truck with 3500KG towing capacity from memory.

BTW, I believe eventually there will be a Left Hand Drive (LHD) model for 'other' world markets
but I doubt USA will see it as there is a 25% Import Tariff on all light Pick-ups/Utes for sale into the USA.
As we know Tariffs are there to protect local car industry, BUT, I do not see how small utes like these would hurt the giant US made GM, Ford, Dodge, etc Pickups.
As these are a class above and much larger everywhere and capacity too.
With a 25% Tariff they are just too expensive to even consider importing for USA.

Hey Ash good to see you drop in.
We don't see the Isuzu here but first glance made me think of a Toyota Tundra.
What do you think about the inline 6 being installed in the Mazda 6?

Some people do prefer the looks of this front versus the blocky front of American trucks.
Besides, there was a discussion about the front visibility of trucks. American trucks have a very blocky and tall front that negatively affects visibility, while this one looks like it might be better with the way the hood is sloped.
Also I don't really see Tacoma or Colorado as much as I see Tundra and Silverado, so it may just be that they don't sell on top of the high tariff. People want big vehicles nowadays, if the SUV trend is any indication. That, and diesel is not popular in North America, so they would have to also offer a gasoline option to stay competitive if it comes here. The 2.5T could work, assuming it's reliable enough.

I wonder if it’s standard AWD or if it’s like the Honda Ridgeline with it running as FWD with AWD kicking in when required? Not that they’d ever import it here to the US I like the low-end torque that diesel puts out. My main gripe with the Ridgeline is it’s the typical high rpm Honda engine; it bogs too much down low. They talked about a diesel engine, but it never went anywhere. Dang reliable though. My 2007 RL has 223,000 miles with minimal repairs, and a lot of that was towing it hard at the weight limit hauling my RX8 all over the country. That’s the only reason it hasn’t been replaced yet. Always thought the trans would go out from relentlessly flogging it in the mountains while towing, but it just keeps on going on ...

I actually doubt J series V6 will have a successor. The tech is ancient by modern standards. No VVT, no direct injection, SOHC, timing belt... About the only feature it has is the VCM(cylinder deactivation).
Given that Honda is going turbo nowadays, I think they will just pull the plug on the J35 at some point and go full turbo K20.
