Mazda Kabura
I found this after looking for all the specs on a bunch of cars. They say they might make it the next RX7. Just trying to confirm if anyone has heard anything. A dealer in Greensburgh said they were thinking of bringing a twin turbo 8 engine for the new gen and supposed to be around 400 hp.

that is an over 3 year old prototype. It debuted in 2006 at NAIAS. Lots of info about on it. look at the bottom of this page for the other threads.
It also appeared at Sevenstock and had quite an audience. I still hope they make something like it rotary or not. mazda could use a smart little coupe...

Ahhhhhh, just seen the bottom of the page, thanks. If you want you can delete this unless you think it has new info. I know they say it's supposed to be 2500lbs or less.

It's pretty bad when half the concept cars for any company comes out with great design and potential and they basically just let it fade away and do nothing. I know I would buy either of these cars, given that they aren't ungodly over priced. I'd love to have the Furai or any car that has the rotary in it to say the least.
I still can't believe I went page by page and for some blonde reason didn't see any of the older threads seeing that they are all from 06 I'd still like to know though if that dealership was just bs me with the twin turbo 8 engine that's 400 hp coming out mid to late 2010.

although they do not produce these cars, they definitely do not go to waste.
You can see Furai design elements showing up in current models. One example could be: The shape of the oil coolers on new models has a shape similar to the Furai front end. I know its very slight use of the design, but it shows through.
In addition to current production models it shows consumers what Mazda has planned for the future of their cars, and what style/design they company is heading towards.

^^^Yes, the dealer you talked to is full of ****. Id go back there and smack them. If the 16x ever makes it just be happy with the 250-275hp we might see from it. There is probably almost zero chance of turbo or supercharging, much less a twin turbo of any kind. Unless there is something technology-wise about that 16x that Mazda is holding as the best kept engine secret ever, its not happening.
On a side note, I really wonder why the kabura just suddenly dropped off the face of the earth. I really thought they brought that thing far enough to be damn close to a production ready vehicle.

I watched it on there site for some time and nothing ever changed and when I was looking on motortrend it popped right out, so I figured something was happening. I kinda thought the dealer was full of bs. I wished they would come out with it though the wife wants to buy a volvo c30, it's ok to me, but when she seen the kabura she feel in love with that one.

I know you said ed that they are using bits and pieces of them in the looks, but what about the performance and power. I just wish when they actually build the concept like they did in the picture that they would stick with it and not dull and weigh it down. They say 2500lbs, but if they mass produce it it will more then likely be over 3000lbs.
I like they eye candy they show, but when it comes out it's not what the people thought it would be kinda like the genesis, the concept of that was pretty aggressive then when out kinda plain compare to what it was supposed to be. What they need to do is let the people design a car and have everyone vote on them then build it the same exact way.

Most concepts cost around 2-3 million dollars to build a fully functioning rooling chassis,,, when it would come to production that cost would come down about 20-30%,,, so just be happy that Mazda is actually implimenting design elements of the Furai into its current model range, by the time the next rotary sports car gets here Id be happy if it looked half as good as the Furai...

Your right on that one. I'm pretty happy with the designs mazda has. I think it's just because overseas they get all the good stuff whereas we are limited. I'd love to have a 20b 8 without having to buy the engine and put it in.

That's to bad about having the turbo's, but you never know, sometimes history repeats itself. They should start having hymee mass produce his superchargers for the new engines that would be an awesome jump in their engines.

I think it'll be a while before we see another forced inducted rotary from Mazda. Assuming we ever see another one ever again. Technology is quickly progressing where the internal combustion engine won't be the prime mover anymore but will instead take on a supporting role for the motors that are the prime movers. If we see another rotary, it'll definitely be naturally aspirated. Then assuming that they finally get it right and make it reliable, something they haven't done in 20 years, they may see the writing on the wall and relegate it to generator status as they have already been playing with. I'm willing to bet the next turbo rotary we see from Mazda will be a small turbocharged engine that is used as a generator but that's a ways away.

Well when they perfect there hydrogen system in the rotary then we won't have to worry about gas as much. I know we bought a hydrogen unit from canada for the crv along with bigger alt., map sens enhancer, oxygen efie unit, but we only gained 10mpg and basically a firecracker machine.
The 8 and the 3's bumper does look better without the grill, and depending on what color you get. The blue with it in there is ugly, then the grey one didn't look so bad.
It's hard to tell from year to year what's gonna happen anymore with engines, all I know is I don't want to buy a hybrid then be taxed because it gets good gas mileage. Penndot already makes me pay for my car when I hit potholes the size of our engines basically not the other way around.
Can't the AP tune the car for E85, or am I thinking of something else?
One more question, how many liters of fuel per minute does the 8 consume? Since my unit makes 2ltr's per min.

I think there is a "possibility" that we will see another RX-, provided ALL of the following are confirmed or YES Motion.
1. Gas prices remain at where they are.
2. The new 09 RX-8 Oil Metering System (I won't call them MOP's , because they aren't pumps) works to make engines more reliable.
3. There is an improvement in 09 RX-8 sales and enough "positive public reaction" to the RX- concept/prototype at a US motor show coming somewhere in a few years.
4. The styling is Kabura/Furai like that will really make your "*****" itch.
5. Mazda perfects DI in the 16X.
6. The 16X is the new engine in the RX-.
7. The new RX- is a 2600 lb 2 seater.
If none of this lines up...it won't happen..
