What a sexy car! This will surely be the talk of the show.

Haha, yep ... that's me. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Took a bunch today, but it just takes so much time to process raw pics for the web. I'm smoking a cigar now if it makes you feel any better, a Fuente 8-5-8 maduro.

This new designer did some nice work, except for the front grille and lights, it looks production ready. The B pilliar is one of my favorite aspects, as others have mentioned, very Aston Martin-esque, and totally aggressive.

It's a sweet concept, maybe the coolest at the show ... except for them swearing it's 4 cylinder only, not rotary

Interesting...

Check out the tire, it's a Potenza!

I don't see why Mazda wouldn't put this into production.

After all the hooplah, reality has set in, and I'm actually kind of blah about the Kabura.

It's really not all that great looking to me. It's certainly no FD RX-7 and I even like the RX-8 better. It's like they took the RX-8, sent it to outerspace, and its returned to earth transformed into an alien craft.

And no rotary? It's pointless.

Mazda is better off focusing on the RX-8. A mid-life face lift and a long over due power boost would do wonders for our already wonderful car.

I kinda disagree. Not using rotary I think is a good thing. It will appeal to broader audiences. Beside, if it does go into production, it'll be sloted below the RX-8. I think of it as the spiritual succesor of the Toyota AE86. Leave the rotay to the 8 and the RX-7 replacement. While I like rotary engine alot, it is not user freindly enough for the general public (Burn oil by design, gas consumption, flooding problem, etc). I think a distinctive, simple, light weight, easy to maintain, affortable, realiable, and practical sport coupe is what Mazda needs to attract more buyers and improve it's image.

i think it's ugly too. The overall shape is nice but the styling is too extreme, particularly the front grille. I think this will be one of the few cars to benefit from the design changes from concept -> production.

I see some cues from the Z, like the front light, roofline... some cues from the 4g eclipse... amongst other things. the side profile looks very exciting and sexy.. I love it. front looks ok, but could stand some revisions, looks like its too jumped up with too many design cues. not a huge fan of the rear either, but its not bad.

if priced right this thing should really stand out compared to the RSX and Eclipse etc since its RWD. That I4 engine is just asking to be turbo charged in a MS version... Then we are talking EVO/STI power on a lighter RWD car, thatd be absolutely CRAZY, RX7 performance anyone?

If released, sales wise i dont see it doing too great since its wont be that practicle compared to rsx, eclipse, wrx etc. And theres only so many sports car fans out there. strictly a niche car, but might out sell the likes of RX8 and 350Z due to its cheaper price point.

I don't know where you see an old Toyota Corolla in the Kabura. Let's leave a spiritual successor of the AE86 for Toyota to build, not Mazda.

But you're right, the rotary belongs in the likes of a next gen RX-7 or 8. Clearly the Kabura is styled very much along the lines of the RX-8, only bolder and even more funky looking IMO. That's why I feel it's pointless to have this car without the rotary. It was obviously styled with the spirit of a rotary sports coupe, but somehow it lost its heart.

Regardless, unless Mazda makes a 4th gen RX-7, I'd rather see them put more effort into the RX-8. If they want an entry level sports coupe, they can take parts from the MX-5 and Mazda 3 and be done with it.

Hey i am just happy this concept is actually "MOVING" in the pictures! (if not photoshopped) That gives hope for production!
