Mazda's SKY-G ONLY with SKY-Drive, No Stick Yet.
According to a Mazda Australia "Person" the new SKY-G Petrol Engines due in Australia next year will only have the new Sky-Drive 6 Speed Auto Transmissions.
Mazda are "still working" on a Manual Transmission for the SKY series of engines.
"Manual transmissions will remain an important part of our range, and while a manual transmission is in development to suit the Sky engines, for now the Sky-G engine that we receive next year will be paired with the Sky-Drive automatic transmission only," He said.
So what car will the new SKY-G go in, the new Mazda 2 or MX-5.

So I guess to answer my own question the SKY-G won't be seen first in the new ND MX-5 as some have suggested as I can not see Mazda launching and all new MX-5/Miata with no Stick Transmission available!

in my opinion cx-3/5 is NOT out of the game.......
what about a new cx-7?

Dunno, one moment Mazda are saying that any of the SKY engine will not fit in existing MZR engined Platforms, but only all new generations, but the next we are hearing the Mazda 3 may get it next year.
I am seriously thinking an ALL new Mazda 2, but then again they have just got the Thailand Plant up and running after a strike that makes our and Europe's Mazda 2 and Fiesta, I just do not think they would have access yet to the SKY designs..???
Where are the SKY's going to be made???Japan, Charlie, Matt?
The MX-5 is the second oldest model apart from the 8 is it not?..
So where do they start..
the 8 is 2003/4
MX-5 is 2005
2 is 2007, CX-7
6 2008

Ash..... i don't know but i suspect that in Mazda are doing some disinformation.
Mazda SKY will be Japan-made IMHO.... it make sense....
BTW....consider that current Mazda2 are just €4 compliant, in those condition are not vendible in EU from 1/1/2011.
expect news* and the US spec dress this autumn OR/AND a 100% NEW model (cx-3/5?) for 2011...
same problem (€5 not compliant) for Mx-5 too.....Rx-8 will be killed (official)
*SKY engine under the hood ? but i 'dont see a Mazda 2 EU only AT....no way IMHO, a commercial suicide......
