Mazdaspeed Miata (?)

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=274539

Here is a strong rumor that the Miata Mazdaspeed will be out this year with 250-275hp from the MS3 2.3L. We'll know it for certain if this turns out to be true or false in about a month or so. Have you guys heard of anything?

That logically seems like the engine they'd toss in it, since they're trying to knock off the Sky Redline and Solstice GXP. Should be a great little car.

i m more interested in the CX-7 without turbo. Putting a turbocharged engine in that SUV was a wrong move. a 3.7L V6 or a 2.5L I4 would be pretty nice, although the I4 is a little on the weak side for a ~4000lb SUV.

Renesis Miata>2.3T Unfortunately Mazdaspeed is apparently only allowed to use that motor in their versions.

The CX-7 cannot accommodate a 6 cylinder. The Chassis is too small. The front of that chassis is basically the 3 and has no room for a 6cylinder

It does seem like yet another rumor, given that the source is a sales guy. How many times has someone on this board posted their salesman told them a MS RX-8 is in the works?

The MS MX-5 rumor could be true, but I'll believe it when it's confirmed by a more reliable source.

Would be a very cool car, but a 250-275 hp MX-5 seems so counter to the spirit of the Miata that Mazda has lived by for the past 18 years. Who knows, times they are a changing...

You would have to compare that MS to upgrading it yourself w/aftermarket parts.

I read from the Japanese NC MX-5 Designer a few years ago and posted it in the forum.

The question was asked by a journalist on a MPS (Mazdaspeed/Turbo) version, his reply was a Turbo was definitely not on the cards but went on to say that "perhaps" around the half life of the model we may add the 2.3 MZR Engine.

IMO I think it will be made available, more like at face-lift time which could be soon.

A 2.3 MZR...YES, but with a Turbo?, not so sure.

I can't fit in a 1st or 2nd gen. The current MX5 Miata, I have no problems with.
