Exclamation Mazdaspeed Porsche???

I found this on supercars.net this morning.

One thing is for sure, Mazda has made an influence on Porsche. The rear doors appear to be a direct knockoff (except the handles) and the front fascia looks just like the Mazdaspeed front end. The roofline even looks similar.

Thoughts?

no... no link from porsches site. It could very well be a photoshop but supercars.net is usually pretty good about saying if it is a photoshop or not...
Ill look for more pics though

I found this after a quick google search:

I've heard that porsche wants more cars to use the V8 that it developed for the Cayenne. I guess this might be one of them.

A Porsche sedan! They have been thinking of building one for years, so I believe the pic could be real. The Porsche pickup truck is not far away.

I never meant to imply that mazda invented the suicide doors.... Im just saying that porsche is probably very aware of the good press mazda has been getting with putting them on the 8.

I dont think that it was the saturns that caught porsches eye.... and the saturn is really only the other modern car that has that style of door. Mazda was the one that put the doors on a performance car.

Actually most of the press has said iffy things about the styling and a lot of that has to do with the doors. Mostly the good press has been from the great handling and the fun driving experience.

Rob, that is a bit odd, which makes me think that maybe none of these photos are real, and especially not the first one.

hahah...that whole suicide door thing is retarded....people looking to bad mouth the RX8 always say, "it's got those cheesy Saturn doors"....who cares....Saturn wasn't the 1st car with them, and the RX8 won't be the last.

Ike you are spot on....

suicide doors have been around since the beginning of cars. you really have to be totally oblivious of cars to not know this.

the rolls royce phantom also has suicide doors

I was referring to the very first pic that I posted to open this thread.... When i saw the other ones I changed my tune. But you gotta admit that there is a little resemlance in the first pic.

BTW, the other pics that dont show the car with a rear suicide style door is a different car. Still a prototype, but with the headlights from a 993 class 911, you can tell that its an older concept.

I SEE! So now you're discrimating against vans and trucks huh, snob! :p

We'll just chalk this up to perception, like when someone thinks someone looks like someone else even though they clearly don't to everyone but that one person...

What was the old thread that someone was talking about a car that looked nothing like the 8, yet the person swore up and down the were ripping Mazda off. I'll have to go digging.

lol... yea...

I know the thread youre talking about. Perception is right. And yes.

An also I'm sorry if I offended any trucks or vans by making anything other than cars feel left out.

Porsche rarely rips people off in their styling of cars. Before I get flamed, I do not mean they never use other manufacturers innovations, I just mean there is usually no mistaking a Porsche on the road with anything else. That is one reason I do not like the Cayenne or the idea of a Porsche sedan, it takes away from the purity of the line IMO. Sorry to be a Porsche snob, but I love those cars.

I think it was the C6 vette that someone was saying looked like an RX-8... I also remember something about Dodge ripping off the FD with the Viper. Both are just silly and I see VERY little resemblance, especially since the viper was made long before the FD.

I was ready to lay into you, I read that the first time as Porsche really rips people off in their styling cues. :p
