I think all car manufacturers influence eachother in terms of design. Hell, when the 350Z was introduced it seemed like all new concept cars took the shape of the 350Z and put on different lights.

Besides, if Porsche wants to "steal" the look of the RX-8 they may as well do it, seeing as how Mazda "stole" the Porsche 944's looks in the 2nd generation RX-7.

Gin, I remember reading that the 944 was Mazda's track "double" during the development of the FC.
Ike, I am very happy not to have run afoul of you yet on this board. And I am glad you reread my post and didn't blast me.

Porsche should build it... it should compete well with Mercedes CLS... it looks so sweet... the roofline starts to slope down from the b-pillar... imo

translation from the site i posted

"The signs concretize themselves that 2008 a fourth model row of Porsche come. Planned is a Coupé with four moving in opposite directions opening doors. As motorizing eight and ten-cylinders are intended. Porsche presses far powerfully on the gas 2008 is fourth series to the start to go, which are produced in the work Leipzig. We'll just chalk this up to perception, like when someone thinks someone looks like someone else even though they clearly don't to everyone but that one person...

What was the old thread that someone was talking about a car that looked nothing like the 8, yet the person swore up and down the were ripping Mazda off. I'll have to go digging.
You mean the Subaru B11S?

That prototype porsche looks similar to an extended version of the failed 928 that was intended to replace the 911. A touring car. I previously owned a 1998 928 S4 5-Speed before I recently bought my RX-8, it was a very similar machine with the exception being the porsche engine being much more powerful and the car itself being about twice the weight of the RX-8. Porsche loyal sports car drivers will probably despise the new 4 door though. It is not the sort of car 911 drivers want to drive. I still see the Cayanne as a soccer mom sort of ride, more a station wagon than a sporting vehicle. It just looks like another attempt at market expantion into a type of car they had not previously made, ie the new carerra gt trying to take market share from the ferarri enzo, this car is intended to take market share from rolls, mercedes, bmw, ect. Porsche is making some odd choices lately. Back to the point, this car does not appear to even be any relation to an idea given to them by the RX-8, but rather a continuation of something they have been trying to do for years, break into the mainstream coupe/family vehicle market, in the high end spectrum.
