Well, Edmunds, who's known for weak 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times, pulled 0 to 60 in 6.1 and 14.3 in 1/4 mile at 95.7 mph on the Mazdaspeed 6, (6.6 and 15.1 at 92.8 mph with the RX8, and 5.9 and 14.2 at 100.1 mph with the Mazdaspeed 3.) Those are weak numbers for all three cars, so the Speed 3 is gonna be more then capable of running those estimated times by C&D. It's definitely gonna be the fastest car Mazda has (formerly the Mazdaspeed 6), and be very affordable, but there likely won't be those insane deals like the MS6 and RX8 have had, and still have, unless they overproduce it in the future. This car needs to become a permanent part of the lineup, and eventually be available in the sedan form.

I agree. Edmunds sucks. I won't even acknowledge their reviews.
From my experience C&D is too agressive in there estimated 0-60 times.
Case in point is the Mustang Cobra GT500. C&D quotes a est 4.0 sec 0-60 in the preview(complete hogwash), but only manages a 4.5 sec 0-60 in their test.
I see that 5,000 Mazdaspeed 3 units will be brought into the US. Sounds like a good number - should keep demand and interest high, but discourage too much price gouging by the dealerships.

Edmund's times are higher than everyone else because they don't do drivetrain killing clutch drops on launch. It's a more real world, realistic number. Just compare Edmunds to Edmunds and not Edmunds to C&D and the comparison will be valid.

Excellent.. now before everyone bash on the WRX, it isnt that much worse than the speed3, it comes with the bridgestone RE92 stock, worst tire on the planet period.

Thanks Japan8 for the links,
After reading all the reviews, they pretty much share same points, inevitible torque steer, but its hella fast in 3rd gear... I can imagine this car can be a lot of fun in just everyday driving, power when you need it, and it'll blow the doors off of 80% of the cars on the road from a roll.
But for me, FWD destroys it, as soon as i feel the torque steer, thats a negative -100 there... no fun.
This car will sell, unlike the Mazdaspeed6, which after a year, I think it was an experiment vehicle for the CX-7 and MSP3, there were reasons why it wasnt advertised... The price for the speed3 is perfect, a lot of teens and young adults will get into this car, but not a lot of car enthusiasts like us who surf and post in car forums. haha. we only represent a very small fraction of the market anyways..

They are out in Hawaii, I test drove the MS3 the other week. I think it is a really cool car, but not something I'd trade the RX-8 for. But I would choose it over the MS6, price not withstanding.
