Mercedes Question

they're basically a special model division in mercedes, kinda like mazdaspeed i guess. they cars are typically named differently with only 2 digits instead of 3, so like the s500 and s600 are the regular models but then there's the s55 amg. or sl55 amg etc etc

It's the two initials of the two founders last names and the G is from the town A (Aufrech I believe, Melcher being the other) was born in, which is Grosssomething...
AMG was originally a seperate company from Mercedes and they tuned Mercedes much like Ruf does for Porsche. However Mercedes eventually offered special AMG versions of their cars at their dealers, whereas Ruf is considered a seperate manufacturer. It was a sperperate venture for some time, and then a joint venture, and today Merecedes owns AMG.
Edit: I guess I need to learn to type faster :p

Treaty and then the FW190 or Butcher Bird. It used the same engine as the Do 17z Medium Bomber which was a 14 cyl Radial engine which was more readily available over the Damiler DB 601 in the Bf/Me 109 fighters the logo is a spinning propeller.

AMG is actually pronounced in German something like Au Mmm Gai = I am gay!! No joke, I saw this on Motor Week show a year or so ago.
AMG was bought by MB a few yrs ago. It was a tuner much like Lorinser or Brabus.
