MK3 Supra electrical help?

Any body here a supra nut or have a friend that's a supra nut?

Im having a problem with my 88 toyota supra. Here's the deal...
I posted this up in a supra specific forum but here is the copy and paste.

Hopefully someone here can help. I had to take my rx8 out of winter storage to drive into work today and am not happy about the salt all over it already in just one day.
Nothing turns on when I turn the key on
The battery is good. The terminals are good. I can turn the headlights on and they are bright. And the horn works.

However when I turn the key to start it, nothing happens. I mean nothing. The dash is dead, the radio is dead, nothing works. Its as if I never even turned the key.

I found the relay on the driver side kick panel labeled "power" not really sure what it is supposed to power but I switched it with the known working good "horn" relay and still nothing.

I removed the ignition switch from the back of the lock tumbler and inspected all the wires and connections. They appear good and clean.

The car started, ran and drove fine yesterday and before with no problems.

What am I missing? Thanks

I will make sure my battery terminals are good. Take them off clean with send paper and tight them good.
Sometimes I had similar problem when the battery terminals was loose (civic, galant )

Could be the ignition switch is dead.....

If you checked all the fuses and relays already

I didnt go nuts about the terminals because there is power going through them to flip up the lights and and turn them on bright. So I figure there should be enough to at least to energize the accessories if nothing else.

I pulled out the ignition switch and inspected it very carefully. no signs of bad contacts or corroded wires at all.

I did a pretty through search of the Cygnus X1 Toyota Supra repair book and found all the fuses and relays pertaining to turning the power on. Still nothing. So frustrating. Iv got about 3 hours diagnosis time into this already with no result.

Thanks for the tips though.

Fixed. The fusible link for the alternator was burnt up.

thanks for coming back and posting what was wrong. Glad you fixed it. Too many threads like this get started then the OP never returns to post up what finally fixed the problem. Now we can all learn from this so Thanks again.

I agree with this post^

Especially since my friend has a 88 Supra with the same problem. We had given up on it and it has been sitting for a year. Now we have something else to try since you posted your fix.

Thanks

Nice! Good luck. The new 100amp fuse link from autozone was $3.50. You cannot just unplug the old one though. You need to flip the fuse box over and unclip that junction. The feed it through the top and unbolt the old fusible link from the sides.
Kind of a pain but worth the hastle in the end.
