And the most popular racy car is...
Civic hatchback coupe.
I always see these little cars zooming around. Thanks to the internet I finally figured out what kind of car they are. Not the newer larger ones, but the tiny dinky old ones.
These little guys are always making a tremendous noise upon acceleration. I don't know how to describe it, but it is loud and sounds pretty bad.
I don't know what kind of modification they have all done, but some of these hatchback will pour noxious fumes during acceleration.
When two Civic hatchback meet by chance on the freeway, they will always be showing off to each other. For some reason rx8 seem to turn them on and they start getting crazy.
I'm not sure why this make is so favored by these street racers. Probably light weight if anything. Traditionally, a car of this dimensions is bound to be a cute girls car and is avoided. There must be some reason then why all these racerz have adopted it as their own.
Still doesn't seem as fast as rx8 though. Then again, most cars cannot match the sheer rx8 power.

^^^Are you serious? It's a cheap and capable car if setup correctly. It just doesn't look good.

The civic hatchback is pretty easy to make power from and light as hell. It's a favorite for a reason.
My only complaint is there are so many BADLY built ones out there doing all kinds of stupid crap. Not to mention there isn't anything you could do with a civic hatch that hasn't been done 100 times over.

cheap and with Honda engineering being as efficient as it is you can swap any powerplant and drivetrain and turbo/Supercharge with no problem at all making it a cheaply modified lightweight powerhouse...

RX8....sheer power? All I can think of is 404: Torque not Found.
The RX8 does not have sheer power nor is it fast. It is kinda quick.
Those civics (*some*), however, can be made very light, get some decent power (a lot of power isn't needed in light cars) and they commonly swap engines.

I don't know too many cars that can do a 12 second 1/4 mile handle awesome (for a fwd car), naturally aspirated, and still return over 30 mpg in the city...with ac.
It may not be pretty, it may not have lots of features, but they can be built to be very quick, and very good on gas all at the same time.
Try doing that with an RX8 (this isn't to say the RX8 is a bad car, but a civic isn't bad either)

my previous car was an 04 civic SI hatchback. it was a good car. honda made a big mistake on the engine that year, but it was still a great car. fun to drive, economical, you could fit all kinds of stuff in it, roomier than regular civics, and i loved the dash mounted shifter.
but it will never handle or perform like an rx-8.

They're popular 'cause you can buy it dirt cheap, spend a buttload of cash to upgrade it, albeit in steps, and you end up with a moderatly fast, yet generally shitty car you can "look like a dork" in...
Sorry. But I HATE seeing a $2k car with $20k mods in it... Here's a general rule of thumb: If your modifications are worth more than double the book value of the car, BUY A NICER CAR TO START WITH!!!

Anyways, if you're serious, I apologize. If not then thank you. That was an awesome post because we all know the RX-8 has never been accused of having too much power or too much power potential. Yes it's a thousand times the car those dime-a-dozen Hondas are, and I hate riced-out Hondas as much as the next guy, but come on man. Even the kid you pay to cut your lawn can afford one of these cars. He'll take the money he made cutting your front lawn and concentrate on making the car look like poop with wheels, but if he has any brains he'll take the money he made cutting your back lawn and make it very fast for very cheap with mostly used parts. It's actually pretty difficult NOT to make these cars faster than an RX-8 - at least in a straight line. True story.
I like you User24. I even found an avatar for you.
