I am sorry but stock Mustangs are not that fast. From the '80s on the Z cars has always trumped it in performance.The regular Mustangs(non Roush, Saleen, Cobra,etc) are great from 0-75, but once they start hitting tripple digit speeds they run out of steam quickly. I had a '99 35th anniversary Mustang and with its V8 it was great from light to light runs , but highway runs was down right silly.

Even in that drag race i kinda knew what was going to happen. The Z and the Mustang would be neck and neck for a few seconds then the Z was going to pull away. The Hp and gearing in the Z is what makes it have the edge over the Mustang.

Another reason to purchase and mod the turbo 4 coupe.

 

I was cheering for the underdog for a moment, since a majority of people here seem to like raggin' on the Mustang.

I think the 2010 version looks pretty cool, better than the new Z styling.

 

Keep in mind that the Genesis that was tested didn't have the revised ECU flash from Hyundai. It still wouldn't have beat either of those cars, but it would have shaved a few tenths off of the 1/4.
